Hello everyone, I'm back! So, I just want to say thank you for everyone who did a review on my resume, September last year! I'm now about to finish my 3 months probation period and I want to say that the resume reviews you did was a big impact for my employment. And also I know now how cold really is here in Winterpeg. If you remember I'm also this guy. Thank you again! See you around!

I always get a great feedback from the employers or recruiters every time they check this version of my resume.

    • I have $500 spare!

So, I've been doing small work on helping small businesses as a freelance and thru my connections in US. And now, I've earn enough to say that I have a "spare" money that I want to invest into something that is profitable. It's a small amout but, I've been hanging out on FLIPPA and saw some site that can buy around 100 USD to 500 USD. I'm also thinking about starting a blog site and monitize from there. I know wordpress offers a package that I can use and allows monitization of the site. I'm not really sure, but, I want to have something to do between 4pm to 11pm. Any thoughts? Is it worth buying start up biz on flippa or should I start a blogging site?

    • RE: I have $500 spare!

Hey there! I finally found and decided where to spend this spare $500 of mine. I know you guys proved to me that it's just a very small amount, it's not ideal to use this and buy small business on Flippa, not even worth using to start a small IT Business(actually, not enough), and not even worth using to start a blog site('coz you don't know when you can get your investment back because monetization is very hard). I agree to all of you and thanks for that. Now, where I'm gonna use it? I thought about investing it on stock market, but, I don't think I can get that much from it.

So, I decided investing it to myself, yup you read it right.

$50 will go to Udemy courses, I think that's enough since they are always on sale, one course could probably cost around $12.00 only. I already have skill set to use for a freelance work but I thought eating more knowledge would help me more on my career, and I want more and more knowledge('coz it's me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: ). While doing so, I'll create a profile in Upwork and will avail their $10/month Freelance plus plan and thinking about getting a year worth of subscription, so a total of $120.

After that, I'm going to avail a year of subscription on wordpress and build a landing page for my upwork profile. That will be around $60 for a Personal plan.

So the total is now at $185. I still have $315 left, which I probably be using to buy Connects on upwork ($1/connect), it's like a token in-site so I can submit a proposal to possible clients.

I know this is not something that I can say a good use of $500 but I'd say, it is a good move. Once I get my profile approved (might take weeks) in Upwork, I'm gonna open another thread and update you there until I land my first freelance work. :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Awesome, that should be a very nice move.

Yeah! I hope everything goes well.

That's a pretty cold and remote city. Will be quite the change!

Yep, I was also thinking how my body will adjust to a very cold place coming from a tropical country (Philippines)

      Yep, just a regular day.

How is things for you ? i think i might also move in couple of months to Manitoba as well. What advice can you give me ? I will stay a year or so.

      How is transportation there ?

First of all, you have to get an apartment that has nearby bus stop and has buses that pass by time to time. You don't want to stay outside for 30mins in a -40C temperature. Some bus stops has corridors, some has heaters on the bench but most of them doesn't have. I'm lucky that I can see the upcoming bus from my apartment so I wait inside the building and I only ride 1 bus going to work. I suggest to get a car immediately once you get here.

Another thing is, invest on clothing! That's very important. It will benefit you in the long run.

      Thanks,
I dont think we can get any good clothing for winter as the ones they sell there. I looked online and it seems used cars are cheap in Canada, can you really get one for only 1000 CAD ?

Buy some windproof clothes before going here, then buy more jackets and coats here because they're pretty cheap since they are common types of clothes in this place. About the car, yes you can get a decent and cheap cars here. Just make sure to buy to the right person. 😊

Come to Canada, we have winter..

      alt text

I need to come or my PR will expire, I thought I will get married in Jordan and start family and forget all about it, but for some reason I have deep desire to drive 10,000 KM away those days. hopefully that will change my mood and health.

I am planning on April-May and stay one year, I dont know how nor what nor where , but at least in Canada you have edibles .

aw man, reading your comment, I think you need somebody to eat those edibles WITH. Give me call when you get anywhere near here.

I was going to say they have fine smokables too...

I am too old to smoke and cough, I would rather eat and be happy and make my stomach happy, I am not fan of smoking.

We need to meet man. I eat alone and don't smoke too. HA!
