Dropping off a laptop at a customer site for staging, then heading to the next client to finish network rewiring before my first meeting at 11 this morning. It's 9:15 now, wish me luck.

May your kung fu be strong.

      Good morning all!

It's almost afternoon here already, where'd the morning go?

Charging head long up the hill, headed towards "Weekend" ?

Weekend, what's that? A mythical beast or Greek god?

I don't know. I'm doing research between now and the Monday following Thanksgiving. I'll let you know what I find out.

(Read: I've gone into hiding from my day job for the next 2 weeks).

Working on arranging a saxophone duet of Christmas carols.

Nice. What types of sax? I (used to) play an Eb Alto, and for a few years a Bb Tenor (I think - I didn't know nearly as much about music then).

I still have my Alto and could play it again after some practice.

      Welcome back!

Ironically, I'm the only person on my team who is going to be in every day, lol. Everybody else has "Doctor Excuses" and actual for real health problems, so they don't have to work from the office... yet.

Assuming the company can exist that way - why are they pushing to bring anyone back? why not extend it permanently?

lol. State Run college. Warm Bodies on campus = More Money for certain things is the way I understand it. COVID comes back next week -- I mean the kids come back.

Looking up about ZeroTier, but confused how you would implement it in a 600+ Device / 30+ server over 60 location environment. Would you need to install the client on ALL the servers and devices?

It might be easier to set it up as a site-to-site VPN. The ethernet bridging can work, but hat can also make for some interesting issues.

The way ZT is designed, yes, you'd install the client on all the things. If you manage the network soup to nuts, then setting it up as a site to site VPN isn't terribly difficult at small scale.

Waiting for the new cooker to be delivered and hoping the gas man will arrive at the same time 🙂
Oh and on that note it was a expensive weekend, also bought a petrol mower for the garden 🙂

How do you mow petrol? 😉

It is interesting to see someone specifically call out a gas mower instead of just saying - I got a mower.

but perhaps in the UK, the push/manual type are super common?

I think there are some electric ones on the market now too.

There are - I've only ever seen them with a power cord though - I wonder if they have battery powered ones now? I'd be surprised if they didn't.

I have a battery powered one. It's a Ryobi, and I love it! If my yard gets out of hand (it usually does in the spring & summer), I can cut the yard (front and back -- it's like 3/4 of an acre) on 2 batteries. (I have 2). If it's just a regular cutting, I can usually do both on one battery.

      reading this
      https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2021/03/att-lobbies-against-nationwide-fiber-says-10mbps-uploads-are-good-enough

I don't like AT & T. My dealings with many of their various types of business have left me unhappy. I read the article as AT & T going wah, wah, we'll fix our mistakes, wah, wah, we need more money, wah wah, we don't want to do the extra work.

While I do get the fact that if they have to build out fiber infrastructure in the Middle of Nowhere, that it will take longer to see a ROI, so they really don't want to do it. I say stay out of it and let cities that want to roll their own do it. There's been a few cities that have done so and have gotten good results and happy customers. (According to this recent-ish article from TechDirt.

So we found out last night that the hotel that we bought isn't a slow, collapsing hotel that we can live in. It's a thriving totally packed hotel with reservations!

O.o Seems like you might should have checked that first. However, that will make it quicker to turn a profit, lol.

It feels like AOL Messenger with how we use it.

Ha. I'd hope it works a little better. We mainly use it for video calling and group calls. I use it for chatting (we're stuck with Cisco Jabber as the alternative, lol) with my team and other folks.

I don't have to do the message search too often, but it usually find what I'm looking for.

I definitely agree that it doesn't need to be so difficult. And they need to quit moving stuff around so much!
