I think very few people deploy Sharepoint in house anymore.

I have entire customer's sites hosted within Sharepoint. Not the usual collaboration stuff, straight up consumer level sites. Like, huge company, 500 sites a host level. We had a lot of other customers use Sharepoint to extend their site's abilities.

For a simple share, yeah, go O365. Extend the functionality to other stuff, you need a local install.

Not that I am aware of. It all functions. NobeBB runs theirs on https with an Nginx proxy also.

I am still waiting for the dev to give me more info on the type of request/data transfer happens between the tab and server. If it's just a Web service request then my life is easier, webserver with ssl and am done. Initial info is that it's a Web service.

Coming from Apache, I would assume so.

This post (https://forums.zmanda.com/showthread.php?5572-ZCB-is-closing&p=17597#post17597) has an email address and telephone number if you want to ask whether your data is comingled or how you might move the almost 11TB of data to your own storage space in Amazon.

Cloudberry is nice because it provides you with a connection to your storage which potentially any backup software could use as a destination target. A number of our (StorageCraft) customers point to Amazon as an offsite repository.

      Cheers!

If as Scott mentions that 3rd parties get the usernames and passwords - that's even worse than this breach!

Yes, far worse. Anyone can have an accident. Sharing usernames and passwords is a breach of ethics, not security. I'm positive Dropbox is doing no such thing.

Well in a hosted system you don't have analogue lines so that isn't a factor for us.

I've wondered this myself, but more generically than just Ciscos and ASAs.

I did this with Barracudas when I demo'ed them a few years ago. The Barracuda each had their own self signed cert, and you imported their public key portion into the remote side for authentication.

I'm not sure how it would work if both sides are using the same wildcard cert - I would think you would loose a large part of the security.

I need to add some process after discussing with the Project Managers, just to ensure that we don't end up using 100% resources of servers and if something new comes i will end up terminating some to accommodate new ones. Idea is to ensure to have some policies like, x number of hours/days needed to fire up x type of SP farm (single server, multi server- 6 servers, 8 servers etc), If there are new projects coming in, share the infrastructure proposal with us, so we can check if there are rooms for this new setup, if not order new servers to provision etc.

@JaredBusch VPN speeds are in latency terms. OpenSSL produces a bit more latency than IPsec does.
