@Bill-Kindle still it's their money lost on you lacking efficiency. All you did was justify them not buying what you need because they managed to get it to come out of your salary.

Exactly. I will do something for my own personal gain (for example I bought my own chair because the crappy ones the staff get here are just awful). But I won't be buying a projector so that my meetings with my boss are easier to see.. if anything, I'd find the smallest monitor around, and swap it out to where ever we are meeting so hopefully they will allow it to be replaced with something reasonable.

I used to have 3, but I actually prefer my new 2 larger monitors to the 3 I used to have. They completely blocked my view of everything in the room, and I rarely used the 3rd one.

This inspired me to ask for another monitor

I am watching so many people, webpages (think ML, SW and various others), email, lync, and Skype. 3 monitors help me keep organized.

With my current work flow, I do not feel a need for more than two right now. That said, If I need to start keeping my notification dashboard up more than I do now I will be getting a third.

My upstairs bedroom office has two monitors one is wide 24" and one is old school 20.1". Both are the same vertical size and resolution so it works great.

@Dashrender I have a client that has a worker out of state. They sent her an AIO PC W8.1 and a USB 2 VGA adapter, but not the Startech adapter i suggested. The one she got is some off-brand that has no support on their website. Oh and first USB2VGA device that has not worked.

I've been buying Tripplite Displayport to VGA adapters so I can reuse the older monitors I have around here. I've had no problem recently.

2+ years ago when I first started using Displayport - I hated them... They would constantly reset, loose connection. They (the royal they) have finally got the bugs worked out, I think.

I've added a second monitor to a Touchsmart 9100. It had a DVI out.

At my old job before I left I had dual monitors.

Two 22" wide screens. I didn't like it very much compared to two 4:3's ideally 1600x1200 resolution but can't really get them anymore or they cost a fortune.

At home I had/have 1 x 30" Apple Cinema Display (linked to my Macbook pro, but do not like having two different size monitors, so keep the lid closed) and I do not like it. It is too big, I find my eyes moving too much if that makes sense, even though I am quite far apart from the monitor. Managing various windows seems easier on dual screens for me.

I am currently looking to change this setup to dual screens, seen that dell have the new slim bezel, still widescreen which I do not like, but might consider that.

Another change I will be doing is moving from OSX at home to Microsoft. I prefer the management of windows and dual screens on Microsoft.

Do you prefer 16:9/16:10 or do you prefer 4:3 for IT work (not movies)

                                          Thanks,

                                          G.

(I've used the word "Windows" when I am talking about the different elements such as finder/browsers and so on. I've Used Microsoft when I actually mean the "Windows" OS, but I didn't want to confuse the terminology and keep it consistent.)

Gabi definitely has a point about using dual 4:3 screens versus wide or ultra wide screen monitors. Like her I dislike the fact that without spending a fortune I can't get more than 1080 lines of resolution on a desktop.

I currently run a pair of 22" monitors in HD res. I'd love to have a pair of 27's, but only if they had a higher res than HD.
