that makes it much nicer GFI has different policies for company owned vs byod.
The concept of people bringing in their own devices just gave me PTSD
I love it. If BYOD causes any concern, use that as a way to find something wrong with your network. If your network is secure, BYOD causes no concern. BYOD is only scary when the network is insecure and we are hoping it doesn't fall apart.

That's a good way to look at it SAM. I'm going to try to adjust my outlook!

There are many MDMs out there, there are quite a few to pick from.
Just remember that iOS by it's nature, limits what you can do as an admin. So certain things will be impossible.
Have you tried the Cisco MDM? It's free, using it for a few devices at the moment.
I'm checking it out right now. It's free for 100 devices from what I'm seeing. Unsure of how much it costs past that. Anyone have a round about number?
-
Is Cisco MDM descended from Meraki MDM?
-
-
We used that for a long time. It's pretty good.

Do they have a per device cost? I'm trying to get a handle on it. I wonder if they do pricing for non-profits.

The last I heard was that the Meraki MDM was free for up to 100 devices or so... Is that still the case?

That is still the case. I have 200 devices though

@wirestyle22 Bummer... Meraki is pretty good for free. The licensing costs beyond 100 devices, however....

I'm calling them to get pricing. Wondering if they do something for non-profits.

Their sales department must be getting slammed. Had to leave a voicemail for them to contact me later on.

Too bad, used to be free for unlimited.

I'm hoping they throw me a bone for being a 5013c non-profit

I'm wondering what kind of settings I should realistically set as best practices for this sort of thing. Any ideas?

Will the devices travel or live at the office? If they should never leave the site, setup geo fencing.
Lock down installing apps, changing settings, various things.
Setup a list of apps to auto install, enrol in Apple's enterprise app management so you can do it nicely.
There is a warning if jail broken or other things happen.
You can enforce passcodes
Disable Siri, disab camera, allow gaming, fair few settings.Depends what you want. It's fairly decent.

As an update to this I've been quoted at $8 per device per year. Looking at multiple products. One thing I haven't seen is removing the app store password requirement on pushed apps only. Is this a thing with any MDM service?

They are all over the place at every remote site (33 in total).
