Why not? Do you not get a pay raise nearly yearly. Why should you get to get more money (mostly due to inflation), but not them?
it's true that many companies don't raise prices yearly, but plenty that do. Often those that don't, they don't because competition prevents them from doing so, while remaining competitive.

Considering the continued density that VM hosts are getting, it also makes sense that vendors in a space like this would need to continue to raise their prices to profits at a near flat rate. Two years ago you might have needed 2 servers to handle your workload, therefore you needed two Veeam licenses, but today you only need one server, and therefore for one Veeam license.

I am not happy with the amount of the increase. I never said a company should not or cannot raise their costs.

Considering my other theory, I'm not surprised with the hike. Happy, maybe not, but surprised, nah!
Another question - how often are you buying new licenses?
And when you compare prices, what beats it?

Nothing beats it yet on price for paid solutions that work with Hyper-V.
Unitrends free is a possibility for this particular client.
