The Great MangoLassi Grilled Cheese Throwdown

Mine would never make it in to a competition because I'd eat my entry. I'm even horrible at Food Porn pics because I eat it as soon as it touches down! No time to pull out the phone, get the right lights and angle. GET IN MY BELLY! Only exception to make me pause is when waiting for everyone to get their food.

Right? So much easier to get pics of the dish in progress.... the finished product gets eaten!

I got a ridiculous manchego - chorizo sammy from this truck at a festival in the spring.... daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.
This looks amazing! I loved pulled pork grilled cheese sandwiches! And mac'n'cheese bites! I know we're not talking about macaroni, but it has cheese!! Sometimes, they will put pulled pork or bacon in it if you're lucky

It's the American bit that is the issue, no one cares about the color It's "processed cheese food" rather than genuine cheese.
-
You could, similarly, make a grilled cheese out of Cheeze Whiz, for example.

My secret recipe will not be entering

Whether one enjoys eating it or not, I believe it disqualifies for a grilled "cheese" challenge. That's almost as bad as entering a tofu-based "chili" in a chili contest. Sacrilege!
-
It's still cheese, albeit highly processed.

No upvotes for you!

Can you get decent cheese in America? I'm not being rude, I just don't know. I've never see any American cheese for sale over here, but I don't know if that's because it doesn't travel, it's crap, or there are big import tariffs.
I know from watching Man v Food that Americans seem to put melted cheese on EVERYTHING.

US has quite good cheese. Here in Central America all the good cheese comes from the US, I've not seen a single thing from Europe. In the US you can easily get just about anything from Europe. Wisconsin is famous for its cow cheeses, NY for its goat cheeses. Biggest American made cheese, by far, is cheddar.

We certainly don't put it on everything, but come to think of it, there are a large number of dishes with cheese melted on top, or it's at least a popular option. Why wouldn't you? Cheese is awesome.

Super high quality mozzarella is made in NY which is why the local pizza is so famous. It's the place with access to the fresh cheese.
