Disk2vhd and VirtualBox woes

@technobabble You might be able to mount the VHD still on a Windows system. Have you tried that?

@Bill-Kindle Just tried last night using Hyper V and go the dreaded "a disk read error occured"
I found a website that basically says attach VHD to explorer so it is a hard drive, go in computer managment and shrink the data partition and then add a new partition named system reserved and then it should boot. Looks like that is going to be my next attempt at getting this working.

@technobabble With my previous reply that's what I was talking about. Mount the VHD on a Windows 7 + machine and work with the partitions that way.

It mounts fine...I have never tried to modify the partitions.

225.96 GB Healthy (primary partition) and K: 6.93 GB RAW Healthy (Active, Primary partition) -
I had one of those awesome moments where you don't know whether to shout YES! YES! or just sob quietly with joy. And that moment was when Vista with my MS Accounting program finally booted to the desktop! I held my breath as I waited to see if the accounting Program would start up and if the data was intact. Yes and YES!

So let me put this out there in case this happens to someone else.
If you have a P2V done by Disk2vhd and you get the a disk read error occurred, here is what worked for me:
*open Disk Manager and mount VHD
- make sure you have a partition for System Reserved and mark it active (I had a raw partition so I had to format it with NTFS and marked it active.)
- Create a new Virtual Machine in Hyper-V and do NOT connect to VHD
- Connect to VHD
- Boot to boot disk, W7 install disk will work. WARNING Repair with System Recovery will not work if you use x64 on x32 VHD. Also using the Hyper-V manager in W10 preview, the DVD wouldn't always show up for boot, so I used a 32bit W7 HP ISO.
*Proceed with System Recovery and wait for the reboot. - TA DA!!

Can anyone tell me how to:
- get a larger screen for the Virtual machine? View Full Screen Mode only makes the window larger.
- When I use RDP to connect to the PC with Hyper-V the mouse is not captured in the VM only
- Since my VM was created by attaching my VHD, is it possible to export the whole thing as one VM? (I am probably saying it wrong and it might not matter, I just thought there might be a good idea to save as a Hyper V VM.

That's done in the OS, not in the hypervisor.

So I understand that using Hyper-V, I should be able to Insert Intergration Services Setup Disk so I can use the mouse in the VM while remoteing into the PC with Hyper-V.
Sounds easy enough,, Start the VM, click on Action, then click on Insert Integration Services Setup Disk. BUT, it's not there...it's not even greyed out, it's just not there.
So is Hyper-V missing key pieces in the W10 Technical Preview?

I'm using W10 in Hyper-V 2012 R2 without issue. The Integration services iirc were already present in the TP, no additional installation was required.
In my scenario, the PC's main OS is W10 TP and it's running Hyper-V which I have the Vista VHD running finally. That Vista VHD has no Insert Services Setup Disk.
Is there another way to get the Insert Integration Services started?

Ok, I must not be reading or comprehending what I am reading. What does this mean:
Integration Services delivered through Windows Update
Starting shortly after the release of the Windows Server Technical Preview, updates to integration services for Windows guests will begin being distributed through Windows Update. For service providers and private cloud hosters, this will put control of updates into the hands of the tenants who own the virtual machines. Tenants can now update their Windows virtual machines with all updates, including the integration services, using a single method. For information about integration services for Linux guests, see Linux and FreeBSD Virtual Machines on Hyper-V .
Does this mean W10 will deliver the integration services via an update?

And the biggest reason I ask these integration questions, I cannot connect my VM to the internet as the VM's network adapter shows not connected in settings. Rest of the settings in image below:

At this point, can I export the VM with the attached VHD to something else so I can try to run the VM in another virtual manager?
The VM needs to have internet access so I can run the database conversion to Quickbooks, which can only be done on the same PC running an instance of the Microsoft Accounting program.
