GreenShot Free OpenSource Screenshot Utility for Windows

I liked GreenShot but uninstalled it as it was a bit.... fiddly & quirky. Maybe will give it another go.
It seems like an awesome idea but maybe just too much shell integration for me? or something? I dunno.

Greenshot has been updated to address both the authenticated imgur issue and the lag on hitting the button.
Version 1.2.8 Build 12
http://getgreenshot.org/2015/11/18/latest-bugfix-release-resolves-problems-imgur-upload-performance/Hooray! That lag was aggrivating. Now I should be able to get a good comparison between it and the OneNote screen shot tool
Sadly this lag is back.

New thing about GreenShot I bumped into this morning.
If you hover over a window while GreenShot is active, then press the spacebar, GreenShot will highlight the entire window. Then click to get the normal menu.

There are a number of preset hotkeys also such as alt+print screen, etc.

I have not experienced this again. I can check my version in a bit.

My version is 1.2.8 build 12 (64 bit)
Installed and updated with Chocolately.

according to
They have released 1.2.8 build 14 released Nov 3, 2016.1.2.8.14-b7c8384 RELEASE
Changes for this release:
This has Imgur improvements for the newer API version, this is a backport from Greenshot 1.2.9
With the move to a new hosting platform, we also noticed our update checks are way to often, this needed to be reduced. The chocolately system hasn't been updated yet.
and they updated Imgur support again.

I was going to say Chocolately wasn't updated.
Oh wait, already did - whoops! my bad.
I guess this is one of my older installs where I manually install GreenShot.
Fixing that now.

There, that's better, and Imgur is faster again!

I would love to give credit to whoever first told me about it, but it was a coupe of years ago and I do not recall who it was. I swear by this app though. It makes things so easy.
I have to agree. I forget who showed me this but it's ridiculously handy, and the fact it gives you the X and Y axis lines on the screen for convenience is amazing! Always one of my first installs on any computer.

Just installed, what a brilliant utility......

@dafyre showed me ShareX like that tool quite a bit didn't have the lag and unreliability issues I was having with Greenshot when I switched over.

that's funny, Paul Thurrott just posted about ShareX a few days ago.
-
I've used them both enough that I feel at home with Either. I'm primarily using ShareX these days.

It's a neat app but I didn't like all the menu things it inserted everywhere. I went back to snipping tool.
I do not make screen caps very often
