The original Spore was actually really good if you ignored the hype that surrounded it.

It was one of the first games with SecureROM DRM. Which was a disaster... it was super easy to circumvent but punished people who legitimately purchased the game.

Literally playing all 162 games batter by batter in OOTP 2017 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In June I was 8 1/2 games out of first. Made a couple of deals (Martin Prado and Sonny Gray for prospects) and now I am within 1 1/2 by the All Star break.

Do you have another HDD? 120 GB will vanish in about 4-5 games. I would upgrade that above most anything else.
Do you need an optical drive? If yes, will you need the versatility of a Blu-Ray writer?

I have a 120 GB SSD currently, seems to work for me (could just use the old one and new one). Don't need a blu-ray player. One thing I don't have listed is a 4k monitor. Any advice on that?

It really depends on budget and how much you care about fidelity and refresh rates. I haven't bought a monitor for gaming in at least a decade, but I get these for work: https://www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-24-236-399.

That actually looks like a really good price for a 1ms monitor. Great find. Thanks!

Anyone have good video graphics benchmarks? Price vs. perfomance the Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 seems to come out ahead

Tom's Hardware keeps up handy lists for this sort of thing. From that it looks like an R9 Fury X is your best price/performance leader while a GTX 1080 or GTX 1080 Ti are the highest performing at something close to a reasonable price for gaming.
Personally, I've got a R9 290 that is only adequate for most 2k (2560x1440) gaming. If you want to play at 4k and any sort of eye candy at all, stick to the cards in the top two rows in that chart.
I like my HP ENVY 32". It's big enough to fill my peripheral vision while at normal distances from a desk. Providing enough resolution without the pointless 4k that I'd have to be like 6" from the screen to see a difference is why I grabbed it, I think two years ago now.

I want to buy an LCG Card Game that is sort of similar to Netrunner to give Laura a chance to learn at the same speed as me. It's really hard to play a game with someone who has been playing for years, etc. I was thinking the Game of Thrones LCG (Second Edition) because I've heard good things and the gameplay is somewhat similar but give me some recommendations I can research. Head to Head LCG please! Thanks!
Tagging @coliver just because I know we like a lot of the same games and he also plays board/card games.

I'm not really into TCGs. But you may want to look at the deck builder genre. Generally one purchase and you get all the cards. These are games like Dominion, Miskatonic School for Girls, Ascension, Star Realms, Fantasy Realms, etc. These can be much more competitive then traditional TCGs only because everyone is working from the same pool of cards, so you don't have the crazy power creep that MtG or Android Netrunner have. The pace is generally, but not always, much faster as well due to everyone knowing what's available prior to playing the game.
There are also a lot of decent Co-op deck builders out there. My favorite, thus far, is Sentinels of the Multiverse (and the dozens of expansions that go along with it). I also want to pick up Arkham Horror: The Card Game but haven't had the opportunity yet.

I'm generally not into TCGs or deck builders, but I can recommend Star Realms or Epic pretty highly. My friend works on their backend services for their digital versions. They have the most gamer friendly pricing model of any of these systems that I've looked at, and the games are fun to play.
