Been playing Silverfall. It's setting up to be a decent story, but I'm still getting out of the starting area, lol. The gameplay feels a bit strange to someone coming from games like WoW.
One thing that's aggravating if you don't find the guy to buy "life insurance" from... When you die, you lose all your gear and have to go back to where you died to get it back... meanwhile everything has respawned again. It's an interesting game mechanic I've never come across.

We played a bit of Overcooked as a family. Now my eldest is playing Ankh: Anniversary Edition on her own.
-
Now that I've figured out how to not die quite so easily, Silvervall is turning out to be kinda fun.

Isn't that similar to Dungeon Siege? Do you find it better, worse, different?

@StrongBad Haven't played Dungeon Siege yet.

Oh, it's a classic. But it's pretty basic - hack and slash with an RPG theme. All top down action.

Ah, I gotcha This one has a good story and is definitely an RPG. It can be first person, but I don't like not being able to see behind me, lol. My camera stays at mostly top down / 45 degree angle or something like that.

I think The Bard's Tale (the new one, not the original from the 1980s) is in a similar vein.

Normally, mobile games flat out suck. Bard's Tale is one of the very few exceptions (despite it's not a mobile-only game, but the remake was first released for Android AFAIK).

The remake predated Android significantly. It is from like 2003, I think. It was just re-released on Android after people remembered that it had been on PC.

Really? Didn't know. But a great game anyway. Not exactly Baldurs Gate, but still fun to play.

Oh, 2004 on PS2, 2005 on PC, 2009 on Steam, 2011 on Android.

One of the nice things about at least the PC version is that it comes with all three original Bard's Tales titles from the 1980s along with it.

Daughter is playing Skylanders: Trap Team with her new Stealth Elf that she got for her birthday the other day.

Anybody got a Nintendo 3DS/DS?
I'm considering one, only because I don't want to spend the cash on a PS4/Xbox One that I'd rarely use, but I find myself wanting to play games at times, whether I'm on a flight, at home, etc.

Yes, we have a New 3DS XL for the eight year old and a 2DS for the five year old and the wife and I both have legacy DSs.

I don't find games on Nintendo to be generally compelling. They've gone downhill significantly since the SNES days. Each generation worse than the last (except maybe for the Gamecube.) The 3DS has fewer good games than the DS, the DS fewer than the GBA, etc. Each one focuses more on gimmick and less on gameplay, as well. The 3DS is so full of gimmick that it's hard to find anything good on it.
It's not all bad, but it is a very weak platform.
