@travisdh1 I mean what is the hardware Dell is selling as SAM-SD?
Well, dagnabit, I don't have a link I can give you for that in 2 seconds!

A set of models will be available very shortly. But R730xd base will be the most popular, for sure. Will be coming in several configurations, including ones on full Linux, BSD and Windows (including with Starwind SAN upgrades.)

I see that the R730xd already has full support for Windows, Redhat, and SuSE.
Once they are available, could you kindly send me a Dell link? I'm curious to see what makes one common R730xd file server non-SAM-SD, and another a SAM-SD.

Links will likely be a few weeks as specs get finalized. There are two questions to answer, one is what makes something a SAM-SD generally which I know you asked a few weeks ago. The second is what makes something an officially, supported SAM-SD and that is easier to answer... when it gets a SAM-SD serial number and support agreement And the later is available as of midnight EEST, which looks to be in about eight minutes.
That's for both the EU and US as well. Some other countries have it available too, but are more complicated outside of EU and US, so you'd have to ask on a case by case basis.

So wait... the SAM-SD is officially a thing now?

Ah, well that's simple enough!

I'm sure I'll see a post here on Mangolassi when the time comes, I'll keep an eye out, but will be busy traveling in a few weeks. Poke me when it happens just in case!

There are some other SAM-SD product specs that are unrelated to what you asked that have to come out first. They could be out by Monday, but that's ambitious.

Coming soon, was not really expecting to announce it last night. Logistics are in place, links are not

Those aren't really Hypervisors in and of themselves. . .

@scottalanmiller is there a ballpark entry price for SAM-SD hardware? Are you approving all of all the systems designed? Or did you simply license the term (like Trump) licenses his name?

Prices will be available soon. It's full support, real support unlike SMB devices. So not super cheap
