Moving a SmartArray P410 RAID Array from a G7 to a G5

We have a DL185 G5 as well, but it has completely different drive bays.

Yes, we have backups. But why go for a small amount of data loss when you can have zero?

There was a comment that there was little difference between the P400 and the P410. However there may be enough of a different to not mount.

Yeah, that is the concern. Only takes a tiny firmware change to cause a major problem. It all comes down to backwards compatibility.

Can you remove the P410 from the G7? It couldn't hurt to try it.

Looking into that but there are concerns mentioned above that it might not fit without adapters that we can't get.

So HP engineering said that this should work but they had not tested it. Make sure you are fully up to date on the firmware and the P410 should be able to go to the P400 safely. But.... caveat emptor, of course.
