-
Did some looking around for a client who doesn't have outlook licensed and doesn't want to purchase it right now. This is what i'm currently using but it's sketchy http://www.emclient.com/ any recommendations that are actually exchange compatible?

Thunderbird? Found this if you're running Exchange 2007/2010.

You can also use Thunderbird via IMAP too, if you wanted.

@scottalanmiller If you use IMAP, you lose the Contact & Calendar sync, don't you?

Correct, IMAP is an email only protocol.

Couldn't you use CalDav and CardDav systems to alleviate that? Or are you looking for it to be all-in-one?

If you are just looking for IMAP support you could look at Zimbra Desktop.

so basically there is not a nice clean all in one solution.

I feel dirty by association for that recommendation. One of my most hated things ever is outlook web access.

Funny - I think Scott loves it.... I know I use it all day long for my O365 account.

@Dashrender I.... I can't even think of a good meme to show my horror at that statement
I mean to each their own and all, but.... shudder

That's all that I use. While not very good, I find it better than Outlook. If you use Exchange, it's the best solution I've seen.

I actually prefer OWA to Outlook... Although I really... really hate Outlook.

That pretty much sums it up. Two bad options, but one is better than the other.

@coliver @scottalanmiller @Dashrender
I share all your hate for outlook, but ugh, OWA is next level worse.

Have you used it since 2013?

The one that comes with O365 is surprisingly good... although I would choose almost any email interface (except Outlook) over it.

@scottalanmiller Yes, recently. I get that it breaks less frequently and does less odd stuff (not by much). I've just invested so many hours of my life fixing outlook that I know how to do it quickly and easily. Maybe I'm a tad masochistic or it's Stockholm syndrome

So you recognize that it is better.... but are shocked that we prefer it?
