How is this judge surprised? NY Judge "surprised" to find out that the NYPD takes no backups of its criminal evidence system...

        https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/10/nypd-database-that-tracks-seized-evidence-and-cash-has-no-backup/

And has a criminally negligent IT department... why am I not surprised?

        Government... you really shouldn't be.

@scottalanmiller When i was a kid, in the fall my friends and i would get our wiffle bats and go outside during dusk time. There would be hundreds of flying ants or termites, and we would just smack them for a while. They dont exist anymore from what i can tell when i go back home.

I've definitely noticed a drop in "things flying around." It's nothing like it was when I was a kid.

I would agree - while my car still has lots of bug splatters, it's a fraction of what it was 20 years ago.

Even five years ago. Driving from TX to NY used to always mean scraping the windshield clean a few times on the way. Now, barely a thing.

And living in Central America... zero mosquitos. Bugs in the air are rare.
