http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-36773835He was a bit nervous from the video, but a very good reaction none the less. I hope they caught the would-be robber.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36800730Yeah that's pretty crazy. Two of my sisters are vacationing in a town about 10km or so from Nice, and so I tried to call them to make sure everything was fine. I couldn't get in touch with them at all. I didn't think they had gone over the Nice for the evening or anything, but after about three hours I finally got a hold of a neighbour I can't believe I still had the number for (they're in my house), he went over there and they were actually having a sort of pool-side party and their phones were inside. Sigh I haven't been able to sleep at all since, and that was hours ago. I'm thankful they're fine, but then you realise that a lot of people aren't going to call their families back. Truly horrific.

@scottalanmiller sad, sad news. Germany has 3 busses of schoolkids on a fieldtrip there right now. So glad my kids are home.

Wow, glad everything is okay. Makes for a scary night.

Something major happening in Turkey. Fighters flying over Ankara, bridge over the Bosphorus has been closed, gunfire heard.... looks like a military coup.

 Looks like a coup.

@scottalanmiller said in Non-IT News Thread: Looks like a coup. That would be great, seriously, I'd love that. This isn't news either, I mean in the sense of anything new. Been following this a long time: https://www.reddit.com/r/turkishcivilwar/ My younger brother lives in Istanbul, so I'm always interested in how this garbage dump is going.

Holy cow this is epic... Police HQ is under military command, Ataturk is surrounded by tanks, military has announced it has full control of the country...

This could be exactly what needs to happen. I love Turkey and the current state of things has been heading them towards a disaster. This could turn them around!

What a mess it has been. Let's hope this is a pro-Kurdish group taking control. Turkey's top general is a hostage already.
