It has amazed me that monitor stand prices were so high for so long. What in the world justified that seemingly artificial price point? Was it a fad type of thing that droves were rushing for?
I think it has been that places like hospitals spend 10 to 100 times the amount of money on the pieces around a computer than they ever do a computer. How much does Ergotron charge for each of those silly computer carts?
I know what you mean, but the price of a monitor stand nearly everywhere has been insane. That's not just directed at a particular market segment, like hospitals. If you hunted, you could find some website that had them for decent prices, but it hasn't been the norm. It's beginning to come down in the mainstream marketplace now, for the first time.

I didn't know if there just wasn't any market for adjustable monitor stands, so those who did want them were so few that the price had to be super high to cover the expense of making them.
It has been ridiculous! Glad to see them becoming reasonable.

I need new monitors before I can use a stand like that. Mine are too old and heavy compared to new monitors.

Adjustable stands are pretty uncommon as an included stands unless it's a more expensive one. I think of the 60 monitors we have, I think 5 might have adjustable stands. It's definitely amazed me how expensive they are. They can easily be as expensive as the display.
My triple stand was $150 I think. That was a couple years ago.
I have a quad here at work. It's a tripplite and I think it was like $90
Edit: ah false I lied. The dual one must have been $90. Mine was close to $200

I have been very happy with it. It gets the huge stands off my desk top. 3 27" stands would have taken an awful lot of desktop space up.

Because you purposely want small children playing video games in the same room as you while you're trying to work? You've got that all backwards. It should be "I moved the gaming rig OUT of my office and to the bedroom, so the kids can play games while I work."
