Flexible second jobs (Canadian)
-
Hey all.
So we''ve decided my wife isn't going back to work after our second child. I am by no means trying to replace her income but more so try to increase an additional 20k or so so we don't loose any of the extra's.
Anyone have any good suggestions?
Not looking to start a business, or take on clients.
I would say something sweet would be like a work when I want, as much or as little as I want, doing tickets or something for a 24/7 company.
I don't believe there's many Canadians here so I might be reaching, but thought I would throw the post up here, and see if anyone had any suggestions.
Cheers all

Too bad it is Canada. Canada goes out of their way to make sure American companies can't effectively use Canadian resources. It's like the worst possible option country for American businesses to do business with. And small enough that it is often easier to write off than to figure out how to tackle.

Being a contractor for a company (here that would be someone who gets a 1099). Or owning your own company and doing odd jobs is the main ways you could do this. As someone who has owned a few LLCs for many years, there is a lot of work that goes into owning a company.

Ya for sure not looking for any of that. I want 0 overhead, 0 calls on my personal phone at random hours.
Just something mindless a few hours a day/week.

And to make $20K for it? I wish I had that job!

Just throwing out a number lol

20K is nearly minimum wage dollars here in the USA - unless you're doing full out consulting, I wouldn't expect that make that much extra a year with less than 15 hrs a week, probably more.

Ya not opposed to the time it'll take.
For example at say $15/hour 20 hours a week is roughly 15k, and I would say 20 hours a week is very dooable.

20 hours a week isn't a few, that's half time

Haha so maybe I was a little loose with my terminology.
Alright let's put it this I wanna find something flexible so my wife can stay home from work and I never "need" to tell my kids no.
We believe my salary will cover all expenses, and we'll be okay but might lose some of the extras. To which I'm willing to work harder to prevent.

I'm my head I'm also thinking an entry level position where I don't have to think making crap wage. However if I more so focused on a solid "8pm-midnight" part time kind of thing with more specialized skills I would assume a decently larger wage.
(Keep in mind I live in Alberta where they pay IT pretty well)

Maybe working tech support for Cloudatcost?
-
Ya I thought about that, replied on their post asking if they do P/T, with no response.
I definitely lack on the Linux side though which I assume is the majority of their clientele

Yeah I was thinking for that kind of money - you'd need a pretty sweat gig..

Stripper? Or does it have to be IT related?
