CloudatCost Issues

@scottalanmiller From my point of view it seems like you think C@C can do no wrong. I have told you all the problems I am having with them, (even provided screenshots) and you still defend them, and say there "minor" problems.
The problems aren't problems if you set your expectations going in. If you think you are going to get a production ready system for really nice setup then they are problems.

That's because what you are complaining about seems incredibly minor. I feel like you are pretty upset with them over trivial things. You are saving so much money yet expect the service of something much more expensive. That seems unfair.

Exactly. Having to reimage a few times. Okay, it's annoying. But like I said when you complained about it, by definition it doesn't impact running systems AND the issues were less than I had with Digital Ocean. So the issues is not unique here, it happens with far more expensive services too.
But I didn't freak out about Digital Ocean doing it either. These things happen. Annoying, sure, but all in all, incredibly minor. Maybe you had rebuild issues far beyond what I've seen, but I've got ten servers at CloudatCost now and have switched OSes a bit to get different projects going and so far, the rebuild issue is a very small deal. You just have to click the button again.
It was a big enough deal that I mentioned it to them that they need to have something check and verify so that it would handle it automatically and they are looking into that. But it's not bad enough for me to want to spend ten times as much money to "maybe" not have the same problem somewhere else.

I understand that we may use the VMs differently. I want mine to get build and only rebuild once in a great while like when they get repurposed. It is a perpetual lab for us, we don't want the systems going away haphazardly. It's a VPS, not a cloud, I don't want them rebuilding automatically like Amazon or Rackspace would be designed to do. But if you are doing lots and lots of "fresh" testing, I can see where it would be far more annoying than it is for those of us who "set and forget" the base OS.

Two images failed during this discussion Reimaging, will report.
-
Of course, now I'm getting significant rebuild problems. I think I deserved to be the one to have two completely fail to rebuild on me.

I feel for you though I'm enjoying the irony

Is it sad that the only thing I use Twitter for is to complain to companies that don't post anywhere else?

Lab boxes. Two out of three had to be rebuilt. I got the emails saying that it was moving forward but haven't seen the image actually happen yet. It's not huge, it's just the lab. But still very apropos.

@scottalanmiller You make some valid points. Lets agree to disagree.

I've had to re-image 2 of them about 10 times to get them working. Still no biggy for what I paid even for the big dog instances.

That's fine. They aren't for everyone. Nothing is. NTG uses four cloud providers and colo as well. We use different things for different purposes.

I think three times is the most that I've seen yet.

Still no rebuild. I'm starting to feel @Aaron-Studer's pain.

Hey guys!
As you already know (obviously). We had massive panel issues today. Our datacenter had another unexpected issue today. We had a hardware failure which affected our panel login. We replaced the faulty hardware as soon as we could and are now back up online and running. we are currently working through support tickets.
The panel issue and the network outage issue will be addressed in a formal release in the upcoming days.
as a smaller cloud server company looking to grow these issues have really hurt us. as before, we are determined to get back up.
we are here and are taking all the feedback we can. we will continue to listen to you all and over time will grow. We look forward to EARNING your support.

no worries in my opinion, for the prices....if nothing else you guys will be valuable as a lab/test ground but obviously not for use in a live business environment.....YET(hopefully)

Some answers would be good. That seems to be what C@C lacks majorly is giving answers to customers.

@thecreativeone91
I will get you answers! just give me a couple of days -
@AmanBhogal Do you not know what is happening now? I know we're a small group of people, but i'd assume you've made several thousand from this group. And if you can prove yourself a great cloud vendor, you'd make tons more. We like information, we like clarity, we like open vendors.

This x1000. If you could be more open and communicate about issues, or just give us a link saying we know there are issues and we are working on it would go a long way.
Also... since this is a very tech oriented forum, postmortems of issues would be really cool. I'm sure that isn't possible but a techie can hope.
