Out of curiosity, is it a CentOS system or a Ubuntu system?
CentOS7. Is that ok?
I run mine on CentOS6.5... really whatever uses very few system resources and can run Java.

I should have know that it is Java. CentOS 7 is probably ideal then. I'm guessing that manually pulling down the latest Oracle Java is probably more important than the OS choice.

As far as I know that is correct. In the past they had compatibility issues with some Java versions but that was way back in the day when Bukkit first started.

Don't ask me. I know nothing about running Minecraft.
Me neither how does it even work. I've never messed with one.

It is a resource hog and leaks memory like a sieve... There was an attempt to write the Minecraft Server in C++ and I want to say Python, but neither of those got very far.

What's worse is I think you need Java on the client side too.

Not anymore

Cool, that's an improvement.

Wonder if I can still get minecraft or I'll have to pay for it again.. It's been at least 4-5 years since I bought it.
-
I've actually never played it at all.

@scottalanmiller -- I got an error the first time I tried it. Turns out that the code when copied from the initial post contained a leading and trailing space. Once I removed those, the system accepted the code just fine.
Tried that, still not working.

Perhaps you waited too long and it has expired.
