That's why I like European McDonalds. It's all automated. So fast and nice.
Can't wait for it to become a bigger thing here.
With a push for higher minimum wage, it will happen sooner than later.
Americans are also slower to adapt to these things. But once we get a taste of not dealing with people and getting food faster, easier and more accurately, it will shift quickly.
I wish this worked in the drive through. A mobile app would be possible I suppose. But getting the correct order when you finally pull up to the window will be a challenge, because they now have a potential to have a rack of ordered food waiting for pickup.
Don't they still have people handing out food? Just no one is managing the ordering. Cooking maybe? Haven't been to one overseas as I don't really like McDs.
Of course, but when you're inside, they just hollar out numbers and you come get your food ASAP. In a drive through setup, it's likely that you could place your order before leaving work, then drive there and hopefully go through the window - tell them your ticket number/name/identifier... they hand you food and you leave.
But this means the food has to be on a rack, waiting there for you. it kinda breaks the speedy system, because now you need completed order storage - perhaps breaks is to harsh - it requires another step or more in the process.
Panara started doing this a few years ago. They put a set of shelves by the front door. You order online, when the order is made it's put on this public place that everyone/anyone has access to, you park, you run in and look for your ticket grab and go. I wonder how much stolen food they have issues with?

They deliver to tables now, at least in Europe.

I saw this at Panara a few days ago. It seemed like someone would take advantage of that system in a heartbeat.

I'm guessing they will monitor it when the expense of lost food outweights the cost of an employee monitoring it.

I used the kiosks in Orlando earlier this year. No table delivery there. Who knows.. it might happen at some point.

I couldn't use the kiosks in Europe because I didn't have a pin number associated with my CC. US CCs could only be used at the counters in Germany.
A few different cashiers in Germany told me that the use of Chip/pin were declining, people weren't happy with them for some reason.. no idea if it's true, just what they said.

Seems like Monday will be a good day to call in sick... I just found out we're going to have somewhere between 200 and 250 tickets created by HR over the weekend...

Or just to get run over by a car.

I mean, there's that option too?

I kinda like living, so, I'll take the sick day for $200, Alex.

Over a weekend? Is this a 24/7 place that HR would be working weekends anyway, or special circumstance?

I'm sensing a mass hire event.

Want some temp help to get new equipment in place? Or permanent full time for that matter.

Actually, this time, it's a special circumstance combined with a mass (re)hire. We switched payroll processors at the end of June / Beginning of July.
But, being a college, we also always have a bit of churn at the beginning of Fall and end of Spring. But this round could easily be described as a fuster cluck.
