@scottalanmiller Scott, yes, the Giants and the Jets play in the Meadowlands, which is in NJ. But they are NY teams. Get over it.
They are NJ teams, there is nothing to get over. Don't be petty just because you are from a region that has no team to call its own. You can't claim another state's teams just because you say so.

Utica is solidly in Giants territory...

Scott, having grown up in that area, Giants and Bills are both equally loved, although people tend to be more vocal for the Giants, considering being a Bills fan is just painful. That map is a good guide, but not perfect.

No true NYers would ever accept an NJ team. NY and NJ are not a shared experience. That's a lot of why American football doesn't have the following in NY that it does in most states and why NY has such a strong baseball following.

Wait are we talking about hockey or soccer?

They are the NEW YORK GIANTS! Their stadium is in New Jersey. So what?

NO actually the Jets are NJ team because they practice in NJ. While the Giants practice in NY

Get over it AJ. They are an NJ team, that they were embarrassed by who they were and "named" themselves something else doesn't make them that. You are confusing their name with their location. No one wants to be the NJ anything, so they claim to be from NY. Where you play is where you are from. That's what that means. This isn't hard. Location is location, name is a name.

You might not know NY counties like I do, but that is Cayuga County going to the Giants. Wayne County, the eastern Rochester suburbs, is the last Bills county in NY. That puts one entire major metro area between Utica and Bills country. The Bills are very much just a Buffalo/Rochester team. Buffalo and Rochester act much like a single dual binary metro (like the DFW) and don't really associated with the more distant cities like Syracuse even though technically Rochester and Syracuse are both in the Finger Lakes. Rochester and Buffalo are both on the great lakes and the Bills are in the suburbs on the Rochester side of Buffalo. Both associate with Canada, but Syracuse and Utica do not.
Hate to tell you this but you're flat out wrong. You will find just as diehard fans of the Bills in Syracuse and Utica as Buffalo, and not just one or two. The Bills are still very popular with cities across Central and Eastern NY. The idea that they have nothing to do with Syracuse is not right. You're not a sports fan Scott. I think I have a little more knowledge on this considering you have never followed sports.

Last I knew, the Jets practiced in Cortland, NY.

I'm not talking sports, just talking about the socio-economic ties between the cities. I grew up in Rochester and Buffalo and they very much do think of themselves as one region (they were the 716 for nearly a century together) and Syracuse is far away and a different place.

I did some of my college right next to where they practiced I think.

I will agree with this, going to school there locals thought that driving to Syracuse was like going to the moon. When I told them I drove 2.5-3 hours past that weekly they were flabbergasted.

I think I should block newyorkjets.com with our SonicWall

I don't disagree that Rochester and Buffalo are linked. But you said that they think of themselves as totally separate from Syracuse. That's just not true.

According to the CBS poll, 57% of people feel that the Jets are an NJ team.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/01/18/border-war-which-state-truly-owns-the-jets/I don't give a damn about the Jets. No one likes them anyways. Just don't bring my Giants into this!
