Standing Desks

I want the desk that you raise and lower so it only takes up the space of a normal desk but gives you multiple options.
Would be nice, but just working with what I have at the moment.

Me too, which is why I have no standing desk at all

@art_of_shred Workbench + drafting chair: this has always seemed the perfect solution to me. I don't understand why people are talking about desks that move up and down. Surely it makes more sense to move your arse up and down (via a drafting chair) rather than move your entire desk up and down.

Because the point isn't to be high or low but to stand versus sit

The point is, if you do ever want to have a sit down, it makes sense to move up to the desk height, not have the desk move down to the chair height. I often stand at the local bar. If I'm tired I'll grab a stool - I don't grab a chair and ask for the entire bar to be lowered.

Ah, I see. Not many tall seats good for actual work though.
-
Well, I guess you don't want to make sitting down tooo comfortable.

It was surprising to see only one vendor in Dubai has a standing desk, an automatic adjusted desk, and cost approximately $1400!
After 2 days of searching almost all furniture and computer desk shops, finally ended up getting a bar table from ikea for now. Will try to assemble one if possible sometime soon, but for now, this looks good enough as a start! Lets see how it goes!
-
I didn't realize the you are in Dubai.
-
@scottalanmiller Yes, in Dubai
Any plans to visit Dubai some time soon? Let me know!
-
This is what they have in Dubai, pretty expensive though. I've passed this to my management as they were also looking at some standing desks for users and in conference rooms as well!

I really should. I have many friends there.
-
Awesome! You should. Please let me know in case you plan, i would be more than happy to be your host!
-
Thanks. I'll be in Europe with @dominica later this year but not Dubai on this trip. Someday though.

I had a standing desk for about 3 months and I really thought it great for a while. When I moved offices I went back to a regular desk. I would like to try an adjustable desk,
-
@technobabble If its cheaper there, I would suggest to get the hydraulic/automatic adjusted desk. And second day of use, feels very good. I might get one for my office too!
-
@ambarishrh I think I would really like automatic adjustable desk.
