Nothing compared to how much they mess up history. Sadly, the bottom line is, school textbooks are not peer reviewed in any way and no one cares if they are right.

It is truly amazing how much stuff you figure out in the real world that school got wrong. Although, I guess the average person often never figures those things out, hence the lack of this knowledge in the general public (and likely a large factor in the perpetuation of the myths and/or incomplete truths that continue to reside in our textbooks).

Kind of demonstrates how little school education matters. No one ever comes out understanding science, knowing any history or being able to speak or write well. So where is the value? We teach a bunch of broadly useless information incorrectly and then find out that while we did damage to the students, it didn't matter since they didn't need any knowledge anyway.
