Exactly. And there are so many games out there, it isn't like you will ever run out and not have something to play. You make the sacrifice one time and from then on you get games just as quickly as people who buy everything as it releases. And there are so many huge, awesome games it can keep you busy for forever. Balder's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale, Fallout, KOTOR, etc. The list just goes on and on.
And if you have old consoles, the list grows too. I bought a PS2 after the PS3 was out for a year. Cost me almost nothing and for like $200 I bought the entire catalogue of games I could possibly want to play on that system. I was stocked.
I rarely buy games until they've been out two or three years. Not deliberately, it's just how it works out. However, with watchlists on Steam, I've taken advantage of those a couple times. I don't know if DA3 will be on Steam though. Last I knew, they were releasing it on Origin primarily. It may be awhile before it hits Steam.

LucasArts really had an amazing collection of games over the years. Mostly long ago, but some real classics in there.

Holy crap, I didn't realize that Loom is available on Steam. I played way too much of that game when I was a kid. I always wondered why they never released a sequel.

Probably one of my all time favorite games as a kid. I enjoyed Monkey Island, but Loom took the cake for me, deeper and much better story. The game mechanic, song weaving, was a fantastic addition to the generic point-and-click.
