Been listening to a lot of Ravenhill lately...bluesy, southern rock with a pinch here and here of spirituality:

I have this on repeat and jamping in my seat at work. After yesterday I'm taking it and running with it.

Hollywood Undead
Seems like the same nu metal stuff being churned out since the mid-90s. Not that I'm against nu metal, I'm just saying. I also don't consider them really rap or hip hop at all, not any more than Limp Bizkit or something like that, though I'd say a bit more "rappy."
As far as rap goes, I definitely don't like this at all, from both a musical and lyrical standpoint, in my opinion, it's pretty mediocre as far as hip hop goes.
Given that you seem to like hardcore stuff, maybe check out Kool G Rap, Ghostface Killah, and some others. Here's some stuff to check out (give it a chance, I gave yours ;] )

Youtube VideoIs it old-school rap? Not really my thing. Nu metal is great! Linkin Park has often been classified as nu metal. One of the most talented bands out there right now...and nobody can get a crowd going like either Chester Bedingfield or Mike Shinoda...
-
Case and point:
- AFI: Crowd mostly quiet
- 30 Seconds to Mars: crowd gets really loud and excited
- Linkin Park: 20K people sing along to "In the End" among other things...yeah....will NEVER forget that. I'd see Linkin Park again in a heartbeat!

@thanksajdotcom It depends on what you mean by old school, it's 90s New York style rap. Old school is stuff like The Grandmaster Cash and Funky Four Plus One More, or maybe even really early stuff like Kurtis Blow, you know the stereotypical clap ya hands everybody if you got what it takes.
I thought Linkin Park was OK except for the guy rapping, I thought without him they'd be a pretty decent band, he seem to ruin songs.
You should check out those songs anyway, maybe give them a chance. There's other hip hop out there that may be closer to what you're into, so I'm curious what is it that you like about Hollywood Undead?

Mike Shinoda is a CRUCIAL part of Linkin Park. He's what makes them stand out as a band. Chester can really sing, and Mike can rap. That combo makes them unlike any other band.

Honestly, I don't know why I like Hollywood Undead so much. They have a lot of songs I can't stand. Too much swearing. I mean, "Undead" REALLY goes overboard, among others. I like the beat and their lyrics are just amazing. Very powerful.

Also, 90s rap wasn't my thing. I've also yet to find a black rapper I like. That's not a dig at black people, but that style is just not something I enjoy listening to.

I agree it makes them stand out, I was just thinking that, but I'm just saying as far as my taste goes, I don't really like it. Music is extremely subjective, obviously.

There's a lot of different types of hip hop. What about hispanic rappers like Big Pun?
I get what you mean though, I like aspects of this song I can't really explain:

Hey, that's why music ranges to the degree it does. Everyone likes different things, and has different combinations of groups they like.

Linkin Park is just one of my favorite bands of all-time!

Coming up with an overall favourite for me isn't easy, but as far as genres go... Wu Tang Clan is probably one of my favourite hip hop groups of all time. Anyway, as far as overall goes, if I had to pick for some reason I'd probably say Massive Attack, I guess. I also like trip hop a lot as well.
Nu metal bands I've liked a lot I'd say Korn's (or KoЯn if we want to disgrace cyrillic for stylistic reasons) first four albums I really liked, Limp Bizkit's second album, and Slip Knot's second album, but as far as the latter goes I haven't hear much outside of that. I listen to nu metal when working out, as well as stuff like White/Rob Zombie (not Educated Horses, didn't like it), which isn't nu metal, but it's on the work out list.
I used to listen to a lot more heavy metal and speed metal in the 90s when at work, but I mostly just listen to it while working out and listen to trip hop or electronic stuff today.
