Working with the state has always presented itself with different things that you’d not likely find in the private sector.

      ANSII Art (.ans file type)

While I continue to search Google to assist a co-worker, I wanted to reach out and see if this has been seen before.

A task the user performed, had to save documents in this format to be uploaded to the state mainframe. Of course, it works on the Windows 7 computer, but as it is abnormal, not on Windows 10. Oh yea, and she is the only person who does this...

I have found that Notepad ++ seems to be able to access, but I have never ‘added a file type’ to the save as option in Office (Word).

You can save as anything by surrounding the entire thing in double quotes. In the save-as dialog box:
        "mydocument.ans" then click save.

Good to know, however this is using a text converter...

While everything i am currently seeing, it is also mentioned “Text with Layout”

And between the others on the team that came in after my initial question, we may have found it.

Standard txt in Notepad doesn’t have set forced line width - which this converter does. It sets the line limit at 80 character. There isn’t any ‘Art” in it. its a standard letter(s) that is formatted with fixed columns and as text from Office.

Information that was had before,... Make copies, and document the crap out of it,...

As it turns out, it is called

                Text with Layout

It uses txtlyt32.cnv which is in the (x86)\common file\Microsoft shared\Textcnv

It is a standard MS-DOS text file with layout, or fixed columns.
