URL Redirect at the Windows Workstation?

Ugh, that would be nearly impossible! And worse to keep up with their changes!

that was my thinking.
With a proxy you could likely do this - though it could still be challenging - especially with things like DoH (DNS over HTTPS) because what if www.example.com is hosted on an IP that hosts multiple domains? You couldn't just have the proxy force all traffic bound for the IP of www to mmm instead, that would break the other domains.
If the traffic is all in the clear, the proxy should be able to read the header and know which domain it's actually going to, and make the change. But if HTTPS, then you'd have to install a cert on the clients, and be a MitM on the proxy to decode that and change it.

Is it possible to force a URL redirect at the windows workstation level?
for example: www.example.com -> mmm.example.comI'm sure I'll get downvoted, but why in the hell would you want to do this?
-
@Dashrender You've pointed out several reasons why this will likely be more work than it is worth. Thanks for your insight. This idea is going into the round file.....

Maybe via a proxy.
Rather than install a proxy, do you think using our internal DNS would work? a CNAME?
Would that work, yes. But I don't think that you can isolate it to requests from a single workstation.

Let's back up. What's the goal? What is making you want to do this?

Don't ask crazy questions like that, you'll get downvoted!

Relax, sensible questions do not get down voted.

Smile.Amazon.Com
I am tired of accidentally using www.amazon.com
I know, I know...... but it would make me happy to not have to worry about it. And for those of you who have seen the popup.......... it doesn't always show its face..... -
Maybe make a bookmark

The problem is when I click links that take me to amazon, like from an article. Sometimes amazon pop ups a reminder to switch to smile, and sometimes it does not.
It's not a big deal on small orders, but yesterday's big order, that didn't go through smile, reminded me that I need to automate this somehow.

Oh, I see. Not sure that there is much of a fix for that. I'm surprised that Amazon doesn't have a system to deal with that.

@JasGot
If you use something like Firefox you can use url modifying add-ons.
This one for instance called URLRedirector looks like it will do the trick.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/urlredirector/
(github)I'm sure there are others that will do a similar job.
Maybe this one as well:
