Handlebar smelled bad. So we went to container bar. Then moved on to Touché

More Touche tonight, too!

End of the 12th Austin Spiceworld event. Heading back to Dallas in ~30 minutes. So awesome seeing everyone.

@scottalanmiller did they announce the end of future SpiceWorld events or if the Spiceworks applications will still exist now that the community is the only thing ZDNet wants?

They are selling tickets for SW2020, so presumably not. The blog post from the keynote (I think) makes it sound like they are going to double down on the reasons for selling to ZD that people objected to, but I might be reading too much between the lines.

My take on all the SW stuff (as a persona non grata) is that I could just show up in Austin during the festivities and have a blast without a conference ticket. I know most of the cool kids, why spend 200 bucks to get vendor assaulted?

I was actually thinking about this. I usually got more value from the after events then I did from the conference.

Plus a few days in Austin is always fun.

I know from behind the scenes that ZD has committed financially and contractually to at the very least two more Spiceworld, which is more than there ever way before (always one year at most before.) So at least in the short term, the stability of SW will be more, not less.

That's far less important than the contracts that are for 2021 that are already in place. Vendors are already lined up and committed two years out.
