When you go through learning material you should always have a project in mind/on the back burner that you can mentally (and then actually) apply what you are learning to.
This is the most important thing.
You have to have an actual goal. When I was teaching myself VB4, I had ideas but no goals.
It definitely made things slower and I did give up without learning as much as I could have at the time.

Given your age, I can only imagine you used a late model TRS80 and not the shitty model I from 1977. If I'm right, then it was "standard" Microsoft BASIC.

I'm fairly certain it was TRSDOS, but mid 80's was a long time ago....
TRSDOS was the OS name for Microsoft's BASIC on the TRS80.

after the kiddo got to bed last night I started thinking about coding a little and My future and what I want to do in IT - and I got to thinking :
Why do I want to look at Coding?
Because I want to Expand and try new things to see if I like it - I've been working with Computers/Point of sale for a year ( officially and studying/learning for at least 2.5-3 years ) It makes sense In my mind to look at other options such as Web Design (someone said something in this thread and I thought about it a little)
App building, software engineering ( i know we have a few of those guys running around here on ML) even Mark up languages like HMTL and CSS ( I dont know what careers come from those, but they're options... )
Why would I hold my self back from trying different things? (at least in mind my, Since im not exactly sure what I want to do. )
I started python, Sure.
Haven't started any projects yet, cause I dont understand Python. where as with HTML and CSS (so far) It makes sense- I put in what I want it to do and what I want to be there, and it works.
python looks like it's all math, basically up to this point.
In my mind right now - I want to try Building a website, A blog ( or something along those lines)why?
because I want to see if I can!
I want to try different things and see what works for me and if it's something I can do- ultimately.
Under that, I feel like it'd be good practice to build a website from scratch, use mark ups and add python.
You guys have said multiple times "having a goal in mind while learning is best because if you dont you'll get distracted."But how do I do that?

if the answer is python, skip it. because I'm already in the classes for python. -

difference between static and dynamic websitesdidn't do me any good.what's the difference other than one is database server language(dynamic) and the other is html (static)

No, it's not language specific.
The difference is how the information the user supplied (for instance in a form) enters the database.
Binding means it goes directly from a variable in the program to the database.
Other option is to use the users data and assemble an SQL statement (database language). Problem is that the user can put SQL code in the information (called SQL injection attack). To avoid that you have to sanitize the input and remove or reencode the data from the user before using it to make an SQL statement.

Distill this to help understand...
What you understand is web design or, more generally, making documents. Using HTML is basically like a "more technical" form of making a Word document.
What you don't understand is programming. Or more generally, making software.
