While the hell are you working if they won't even let you take the time off that you want to take off. It's a job. They pay you for 8 hours a day, which IMHO doesn't give them the right to tell you when you can use granted PTO. Not coming down on you @Dashrender but if your company treats you this way, maybe it's time to look at other opportunities.

Seriously - I generally get the time off I request. This is only the second time in 12 years I've been denied a specific time off I wanted off.

My thoughts exactly.
Boss is traveling outside the country and wants me here to cover tech. I get it.. sucks, sure, but I get it.
The same thing happened last time too - the difference last time I had submitted my request 9 months before she knew she was leaving the country - I was pretty pissed at the time.

..... and they totally forgot to take pics of the venue for everyone, which was the primary reason that they were there. I even reminded them as they stepped out the door.
