@scottalanmiller Ubuntu w Budgie is solely for jump boxes? Screen Connect is installed on the jump box?
Oh, sorry, forgot that we want this on end user desktops, we just don't have that working at the moment. Total bran fart there.
It works as long as you have the user log in, or is already logged in when you want to do support.
The only issue is the "lock screen" being blacked out.
In Fedora 28, it works?
I still get the black screen even when the user is logged in. This happens using unattended access.I remote in to my desktop from my iPad or laptop consistently.
Is your Desktop on Wayland?

Fedora + Cinnamon

I also remote into my laptop, my co-workers laptop, with ScreenConnect no issues.
Oh and a demo laptop I have from HP right now. All systems running Fedora 28 + Ciinnamon. -
What do you have here on your desktop?

It seems the issue is in Cinnamon vs Gnome.

Found this on the interweb, (I didn't bother to look at the date it was published):
http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online/Features/What-s-Taking-Wayland-So-Long"Currently, Gnome offers the best experience under Wayland. Yet even in Gnome, Fedora Leader Matthew Miller says that remote logins and screensharing continue to be a problem, according to Fedora Leader Matthew Miller, as well as running Pipewire, the new multimedia processor intended as a substitute for PulseAudio and Jack. Even on Gnome, Wayland still has some distance to go."

Wayland causes issues with many things.

I believe GDM is running under Wayland when using Fedora Gnome. Might have better success using Fedora XFCE for a jump box.

We didn't have good results with that either, problems with menus in browsers.
