ONLYOFFICE launches a new version with table of contents

I've heard only office has excellent support for opening office documents with heavy formatting, how true this is I don't know as I haven't used it before.

@jaredbusch well, I think LibreOffice online can be integrated with Nextcloud, but still Collabora is their official partner. For me, both have that open source spirit of freedom which I like, cause you know
ONLYOFFICE is different from Libre, cause it uses docx, xlsx and pptx as basic formats, which is convenient if you work with these docs, just like my teammates and me. And believe the majority of docs exist in these formats, so I guess this office suite might be useful for many) I also like its collaboration tools (and I can speak about it for so long, so I won't :zipper-mouth_face:)
That's been a bit of a weakness with LIbreOffice, which I love, but it isn't ideal for working with MS Office based document formets. Seems like organizations that lean towards MS Office file formats might lean to OnlyOffice, and those that don't use those might lean to LibreOffice?
-
Here is a question that maybe someone knows, if you use LOOnline with NextCloud, can you ALSO use OnlyOffice and run them side by side with one handling MS Office formatted documents and one handling ODF?
-
I tried only office in production, especially with spreadsheets and while it was very promising and easy to use. we lost abit of data, even MS office locks file on the cloud and wants only 1 person to edit, but this thing allows multiple edits real time and with no audit, I tried the document server with nextcloud plugin to integrate it.

I couldn't agree more)

@scottalanmiller I can ask our QA on Monday. Maybe we tried it before, or we can try it now (now = on Monday)

oh, I'm not sure but maybe you are talking about the problem that I also encountered. Is it about losing data in spreadsheets in real-time when you could do no ctrl-z when somebody (or yourself) ruined some of the data? I lost some items from my media base shared with my teammates, but that happened ages ago.
Do you know that you can grant different access rights - read only, review and full access. You can also switch to a different co-editing mode - Strict in which there area you are currently editing is locked for the others
-
Yes it is coming back to me, Fast was cluster F*** an option that really should not be there in the first place.
Strict was the way to go but the issue we had that the file would be locked by user A and the user A would tell me that he didnt lock it and he did log out, the thing is the file would be still locked and I would get many calls and stuff that they need access to edit, and I have to reboot the server or service to remove the lock, hope it got better in new versions , will give it a test later on.
Also your setup is different than mine abit , here is my test setup if any one wants to recreate
2 centos, 1 with nextcloud LAMP the other with docker and this
https://hub.docker.com/r/onlyoffice/documentserver/
then i use nextcloud plugin for open office, prepare yourself for long screenshot tour -

I asked our QA guys as I promised and that's what I learned: we tried this with Collabora (not LOOnline, but I think it would be the same) and ONLYOFFICE together, and while ONLYOFFICE associates itself only with OOXML files (docx, xlsx and pptx), Collabora grabs all the formats including ODF and OOXML. So, it's highly unlikely that will be comfortable to use them both at the same time.
And maybe this would useful - https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/onlyoffice-owncloud/issues. You can discuss it with ONLYOFFICE tech guys there

hm, if you have time, can you create an issue here - https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/onlyoffice-owncloud/issues?

@scottalanmiller here's an interesting topic from the Nextcloud community - https://help.nextcloud.com/t/collabora-and-onlyoffice-together-in-nc13/31118
