Alternatives to Facebook

I don't believe that. I've used Facebook, absolutely nothing in it is easy or clear. Nothing. It's one of the most confusing, hard to use platforms around. You can't find anything you want, things just vanish, you never know when someone is trying to post. It's the ultimate is "hard to use".
Totally not easy to use, at all, but it is trivially easy to add anybody you know to whatever groups you want, so long as they are on facebook and you're friends with them. The groups are absolute garbage and totally confusing as all hell, I agree with you there.

I mostly use Facebook to keep in contact with Family and Friends who don't live close. Although lately I have been on it less and less with all the political BS from both sides of the aisle. I closed my other accounts.

Considering the move today by Google to go from Android (people consider it a mobile platform) to Chrome OS (people consider it a non-mobile platform) for mobile devices that aren't phones.... that's an entire current market for "mobile only" that is going away.
"Mobile only" has become the new phrase for "legacy fat clients" that have been a joke for decades. To be "mobile only" just means making apps instead of web sites and moving dramatically backwards. It's exactly like making a Windows desktop app for something that should be a web app. Legacy, foolish, and no developer did that without knowing the whole thing was a big joke.

Yup, most people I know have moved to Telegram mostly. Does everything FB does well, better. And doesn't do the things you didn't want FB to do anyway.

That looks like a chat client only unless I'm missing something.

I haven't messed with telegram much, is it solely a chat program or can it be used like facebook, instagram, etc. with a post and comment method?

That's the only bit of FB that's usable. That's why I, and everyone I know, like it. None of that political posting, no ads. Just the usable parts of FB done better, none of the disaster stuff to avoid.

No post and comment. That's how it "fixes" the problems that FB has. Those are the reasons I wish I could remove my FB account.
The only way to make FB usable for me is to use their Messenger website so that I can block all that shitty posting stuff.

See and I hate the way they separated the iPhone apps. But I also hate how it has become like 99% advertising/targeted click-bait, and only 1% actual posts of my friends.
-
The entire concept of Facebook is just bad. If someone is using it, they can keep using it. No need for an alternative.
If it's for collaboration regarding a specific interest, there are forums for that and other services like Reddit. Sharing pictures? Instagram. Update statuses? Twitter.
Again, the concept of Facebook is terrible, and yes I have it, but don't need it.
Why do you need Facebook to stay in touch with someone? So you can stalk them without them knowing? Give them a call. Send them an email with photos. Text them a link to your Instagram and Twitter.

Telegram is great. Viber works well.

I don't use either app any more, but on the phone, you can only install the Messenger app and voila, FB all cleaned up. No adds, no politics, no mess.

The concept of FB is centralized accounts. Most people I know don't have anything but FB. It's not that we don't know each other, it's that email has been intentionally discontinued by millenials and anti-techers, Twitter isn't that widely used, Instagram IS Facebook (just another "view" of it like Messenger), and telephone numbers aren't stable. None of those things replaces Facebook.

This works quite well, it's nowhere near as good as Telegram, but it does okay. I have it open right now, in fact, chatting with @smartkid808
I don't mine the Facebook Messenger website because it removes the garbage and doesn't have malware hooks to spy on me like the mobile apps have.

That's the thing I've mentioned a few times
Ah, gotcha lol I'm apparently a little slow, I didn't realize there was separate messenger website, because I don't use messenger frequently. I thought you were still going on facebook.com to access messenger with the messy political BS in the same window :face_with_tears_of_joy:

OH, no, I use the website and it works great. I was really sick of FB till someone showed me that. Once I switched, FB was fine again.
