Should I move to Xenserver 7.2?

Xenserver from Citrix or XenServer.org are the same exact thing. You can update without a cost. You can't however get the commercial modules without paying to access those modules.

@DustinB3403 Have you read the "something for everyone" link? Citrix has changed the rules regarding availability of updates.

I hadn't because i figured there was nothing worth noting there. It looks as though they are forcing customers to get support. Which is fine by me. Support is only $345/year.
Which is nothing. . .

Uh no. $345 per socket. So one host would be $700.

Still nothing and I didn't say anything about sockets. . . . 16 sockets 300 sockets. . . that price is nothing at all.

You're right, you didn't say anything about sockets. You said "only $345" which is incorrect.

Also that price is not "nothing at all." $700 is 12 cloud instances for a year at $5 per month.

The CUs are for customers with support. Those are for long term support. Every three months they will be releasing new CRs which can be for everybody.
Customers without support wont get updates after a new CR is released. They must upgrade to new CR, get updates til new CR, upgrade to new CR, get updates for CR...
A bit like the Win 10 model it seems but with faster cycle of 3 months.
So soon i expect XS 7.3CR, then 7.4CR three months later, less i understand incorrectly. Perhaps different names like 7.2CR1, 7.2CR2 or similar. -

Or I could stay with not updates....Thanks

Always stay up to date. That really shouldn't be a question, you ALWAYS update.

The two are kind of one and the same. One is macro updates and one is micro updates, but you want both.

And that includes the cost of internet/power/cooling, etc.

You might be able to match that with colo, too. Get two people together to share a colo'd box and you can beat it easily.

Hopefully upgrading to the new updates runs smoother than it has in the past...
