@JaredBusch I tried switching to a Samsung galaxy S9 a few years ago. It lasted 14 days (took it back before the trial period ended) because I missed iMessage, battery life was poor, and a few other issues. I use wifi calling a lot and it didn't seem to have that at the time. Wouldn't call myself an Apple fanboy. I do love the keyboard on my wife's macBook Pro...

In my opinion, the Android ecosystem really stabilized, in the last two years, to the point that I totally considered the current series of phones when deciding what to do about my iPhone 8 upgrade (i'm on a T-Mobile plan that lets me upgrade continually). Thankfully the plan doens't restrict my upgrades to a single model of phone. That is why I signed up for it instead of like Apple's continuous upgrade plan or something.

Anyway. Android is solid and comparable IMO, but not ahead or anything in a way that would also want me to get off the ease of being on a single "ecosystem" for the family.

I'm really a fan of my S9. First Android device in a long time, but it has been great.

              XenServer via XCP-NG

              What does this mean?

XenServer is a product. XCP-ng is a separate product.

XCP-ng is based on the last open source version of XenServer, and uses XAPI for the toolstack administration. It is also further along with the progression of certain pieces of technology that Citrix has never gotten to developing.

@JaredBusch I have an 8 plus and thought I wouldn't like the size but could not go back to a "normal" size iPhone now. With a Pelican case, it still fits fine in my front pocket.

My wife has had the Plus series since they came out (6 Plus upgraded to 6s Plus) So I have plenty of experience with it. She loves it and now that she is on the iPhone XS Max, she loves the extra screen space compared to her 6s Plus.

                Fanboy much?

There's nothing that says fanboy at all. Just preferred the extra screen sizes of the plus and max.

I'm a big fan of the Galaxy line... I had both a Note 3 and a Note 4... I'm considering switching back to Samsung for the Note 9 instead of a Pixel XL 3... But I want to see if Verizon is going to get the Fold first. From what I hear, nobody knows yet.

I grabbed a Galaxy Tab A in November. Works great for eBooks. 50 bucks at Verizon....$10/mo. added onto my cell bill which will be cancelled as soon as I can without penalty

As I already stated, there is nothing wrong with XenServer/XCP-NG as a technical solution. But I don't push things blindly.

This is funny, because I actively use KVM, XCP-ng and ESXi. As an ecosystem XCP-ng when combined with XO makes a pretty damn solid solution.

KVM is good as well, but has more to setup, and ESXi is just annoying.

'Human error' — an Amtrak worker fell on a circuit board — blamed for Thursday's Metra mess at Union Station

The commuting debacle at Union Station on Thursday was caused by Amtrak’s decision to upgrade its servers during peak service hours and a worker falling on a circuit board, which turned off the computers and led to delays that affected more than 60,000 Chicago-area commuters.

The cause of Thursday’s incident was provided by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who spoke to Amtrak CEO and President Richard Anderson. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari did not dispute Durbin’s characterization.

Durbin said Anderson admitted that Amtrak made a series of errors, the most significant of which was upgrading servers during its peak hours of service, rather than in the middle of the night when fewer trains are running.

Mini-review: 24 hours with Dell’s fanciest Chromebook yet

At $599 and 3.9 pounds, this Chrome OS convertible has clear pros and cons.

This device isn't the penny-pinching plastic laptop that so many think of when they hear "Chromebook." Instead, it follows the new trend of high-end Chrome OS devices designed to offer alternatives to Google's own $999 Pixelbook. Since Dell already makes numerous Chromebooks that are generally solid, I was curious to see how the company would fare making a premium Chromebook. These are niche devices that have to tick certain boxes to even come within the same range as Google's own Chrome OS devices, so I spent one day with the Inspiron Chromebook 14 to see just how premium the convertible actually is and if it's worth the extra money.

@mlnews I'd struggle to justify a $599 Chromebook that only has 4GB of RAM.
