@scottalanmiller I have to have my phones large, like 6 inch screens or I just cant see it and it makes my eyes hurt.
6” screen is a good size. With iPhones, you can change the display zoom view from standard to zoomed and then increase the text size. I get a good balance using those settings.

@bnrstnr On the appliance for XO.

So you downloaded their trial appliance rather than building from source or using the installation script you can find on my GH account.

I really like the SCREEN size of the old iPhone 5s.
If they had that with like no edge around it, it would be great.

@scottalanmiller Yeah that makes sense. I dont use cases either right now because I hate most of them. The company I liked didn't make a case for my 2 phones so Ive been caseless since then. It was https://www.nicolameyer.com/. Oh wait it looks like they make my cases now, cool.

Apparently I was not aware of your account or script. I will check it out.

I was worried that they were going to get too big when I first heard the announcement that the 6 was going to be bigger. But I did want a slightly larger phone.
Once released and I checked it, it was just that little bit bigger that worked well for how I use the phone. The Plus/Max line are way to big for me.
Yeah the top row is not reachable with my thumb, but I wanted that little extra space for reading. I just dumped rarely used (but used) icons to the top row.
I like the iPhone X now being full screen. That is sweet. I will be upgrading my iPhone 8 to the iPhone XS this month.

@DustinB3403 What are some of the main reasons you use xcp-ng over KVM? I have been spending a ton of time working with KVM to steer totally clear of MS (even though Hyper-V has been great). I have mentioned numerous times that backups of guests are one of my priorities. I would rather make a few clicks to backup/export/etc at guest than risk making mistakes on command syntax.

XCP-ng is Linux based

The backup and management solution, gives you a great production ready option at 0 startup costs. XCP-ng and XO are completely open source.
Just install and go.

@JaredBusch I have an 8 plus and thought I wouldn't like the size but could not go back to a "normal" size iPhone now. With a Pelican case, it still fits fine in my front pocket.

Because he is a super fanboy of it.
Honestly, it is a good solution, but I don't like the risks of things going to hell again now that it is spun off totally separate because of the XS licensing changes or whatever it was that cause XCP-NG to be formed int he first place.

Not really, but sure let's go with that.
It's open source, the management solution is open source. Both are constantly being updated. Bugs are being found and fixed rapidly.

Citrix, made major portions of XenServer closed, and required you purchase support to get updates. That is what caused XCP-ng to come into existence.

My wife has had the Plus series since they came out (6 Plus upgraded to 6s Plus) So I have plenty of experience with it. She loves it and now that she is on the iPhone XS Max, she loves the extra screen space compared to her 6s Plus.

Not at all. Nothing in there is fanboy at all. Don't try to be me. You don't do it well.

It is a fork of the last open source portions of XenServer that were available by the community with no corporate backing to my knowledge. @olivier's company is pretty muc the onyl ones doing anything because the change to XenServer basically killed their previous product.
This is not a solution I will choose to recommend to people to run their business on.
This does not mean there is a damned thing wrong with XenServer via XCP-NG for those that know the risk and have the skill to handle the deployment.

@JaredBusch I tried switching to a Samsung galaxy S9 a few years ago. It lasted 14 days (took it back before the trial period ended) because I missed iMessage, battery life was poor, and a few other issues. I use wifi calling a lot and it didn't seem to have that at the time. Wouldn't call myself an Apple fanboy. I do love the keyboard on my wife's macBook Pro...

It will be really nice when Cockpit can FULLY manage a KVM host.

In my opinion, the Android ecosystem really stabilized, in the last two years, to the point that I totally considered the current series of phones when deciding what to do about my iPhone 8 upgrade (i'm on a T-Mobile plan that lets me upgrade continually). Thankfully the plan doens't restrict my upgrades to a single model of phone. That is why I signed up for it instead of like Apple's continuous upgrade plan or something.
Anyway. Android is solid and comparable IMO, but not ahead or anything in a way that would also want me to get off the ease of being on a single "ecosystem" for the family.
