What do you think of SIPDOJO.COM as a brand?

What kind of drinks does the sip ninja drink at the sip dojo?

Ironically, a company makes a product called "SIPNINJA" that has nothing to do with SIP/VOIP. They make Ninja Blenders and have a cup they now call Nutri Ninja instead of SIP NINJA.
But I always thought the intended audience would get it... but IDK...

I like it. Makes sense to me.

Nothing in the names tells me that you are a supplier. But that is not really a concern as lots of places are similarly lacking in that respect. Just something to think about.
The names themselves flow easily in thought and speech. So that should not be a detriment to recognition.
-
@bigbear Not surprising that there is a non-VOIP site using that name. Super generic unless you are @scottalanmiller or @JaredBusch. The rest of the world will likely think "I want something to sip on..." But then again, I have a healthy work/life balance, in that I don't obsess over tech stuff 25 hours a day. Which of course makes me the odd man out, but hey, I like other things besides IT (I'm such a freak).

Yeah when you think VOIP SUPPLY I suppose its very clear. Although I had a grandiose vision of having video/tutorials and how-to stuff, cool T-Shirts. You know, the SIPDOJO, a place to come and learn how to use SIP, talk about SIP, buy SIP hardware, etc. I have learned from previous business ventures that all these things usually dont end up amounting to a hill of beans.
At the time I bought the domains I was working with a lot of developers and SIP was a more commonly used term than VOIP. I am not sure acquiring VOIPDOJO.com would be any better though...

LOL, yeah I could almost go Big Bear's VOIP Wharehouse and if the price and delivery was good it would work just as well.
There are some more professional names I have singled out that are available. I would post them for feedback but I would want to acquire them first.
-
I initially thought Sip Dojo (as in a sip of alcohol) because I was just at a Whisky parring.
The name makes sense, but takes some thought to actually determine by domain name only what it is you're selling. It could work, but I don't know if I personally would be hung up on that domain name.

As in, if I could sell the current domains for $5k and buy something else, I should probably do that? LOL

Without knowing what the others are yeah, maybe. Not my business, so not my call.
But IT people like to drink / sip on drinks as much as we use SIP service. . . so . . .
-
@dustinb3403 I was sorta looking for affirmation that I needed to go with something else. LOL
I tested it with my customers and had to give an explanation, which got me worried.
The primary products I have worked with for years... SIPRouter, OpenSIPS, SIPWise, just had me in a bubble I think. If my target was Clue Con attendees I know it would go over well.
-
SIP is such a protocol, I would avoid that. SIPStation works because... they sell SIP and nothing else. But if you work with VoIP hardware, calling it SIP is weird because do you not work with IAX for example?
-
Yeah I had tunnel vision at the time. But SIP is the only thing that has mattered for a long time, when you are managing and developing a large voice platform. There is nothing on the horizon to replace it, it will likely evolve for a decade to come.
Still, thinking more about the idea of "supply" being in the name.
-
Really do appreciate the feedback on this, if for nothing but to kill off the current brand idea and move on....

IAX2, so much nicer
-
@scottalanmiller IAX2 has more problems than solutions. But again, speaking more to the backend than say a small business PBX deployment.
And again, SIP is tunnel vision.
VOIPSUPPLIES.com is available LOL.
-
Now I want to start a martial arts / tiki themed bar called Sip Dojo.
-
that would be a big pivot...
-
@rojoloco would you serve mangolassi's?

Yes. With or without rum.
