I've had the opposite experience and have done better at organizations with no internal contacts.
Well, depending on how things go tomorrow, I may be headed down that road.
I know about quite a few openings in the Orlando area that are actively seeking employees. It may not be ideal for you, but lower cost of living and no state income tax.
But then you'd have to live in Florida...
Never heard that one before
I mean there's a reason people say it...

Yes, the zombie population. It's where the rest of us go to die out of courtesy as to not plague the population in our home states.

You mean rate of change? California has you beat. Even Texas I believe is growing faster then Florida is.

What I meant was that most of our population is from out of state, but the state is doing well in growth.

That's surprising to me. I figured Colorado would be #1.

Tampa has a lot, actually. I hate Florida and Tampa more than pretty much anywhere else in it, but it's a decently hot place (no pun intended) for IT work. One of the larger US markets.

@coliver Utah is Colorado adjacent. Plus it seems like Utah is big and empty enough that most people there could kinda do whatever and get away with it.

Yes, but it doesn't have the draw of Colorado, if you know what I mean.

I just moved to Utah back in October of last year. Tech has absolutely exploded here. Aside from housing costs in and around SLC, the cost of living has stayed relatively low too.
