No good train from STL though
Just about $540 for a amtrak from STL via Chicago to Penn Station and total trip time over 24hours each way.
Only $378 to fly to LGA

On the drive side I have a honda insight that gets almost 50 mpg when I use cruise control at the speed limit (a very hard thing for me to do!).
That comes out to $150 in fuel -

Not the high speed. Just the normal one. Should be pretty cheap. Do you use BWI as your local Amtrak station?

I can drive the whole way honestly. Driving is something that does not really bother me. I just don't want to foot the whole bill.
