What are the biggest hurdles you guys are hitting now?

Normal users can't be asked to type something in. Heck it's hard enough sometimes getting them to browse through and find the s: drive.
To make this really user-centric, it needs to have a button inside the save dialog that allows them to browse to where they want to open/save a file, like JB's example.
My whole thinking is a way to move from the current workflows of today and network shares to a future workflow of accessing things directly through the apps.
This is how most mobile apps work.
I'm not a Windows expert. But isn't there a way to create a network share entry in the save dialog for all users. A WebDAV entry is similar to a normal network share entry.
Quick Google search turned up these two links

Honestly my biggest hurdle at the moment is to keep up with all the requests and feedback. A lot of people are interested in Nextcloud. #IOT

Guess that's a good problem to have!

I am not actually using NextCloud anywhere yet because of existing ownCloud installations that have yet to be migrated.
I noticed that with version 11 there are some issues with compatibility in the Android app and that it is now required to migrate to the NextCloud app.
Are there any compatibility issues yet with the desktop sync clients? Changing all users once I migrate the server is a non-trivial task.
-
Are there any plans to actually integrate an email server or just to remain as a client? Not saying that that is my vote either way, just interested in the email roadmap.

Ach, it isn't a hurdle but there's a lot of interesting stuff in that area which provides similar challenges as the ones we try to solve (who is in control etcetera). The Nextcloud Box is positioned, especially by Canonical, to address some of that see https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/02/22/an-ubuntu-snap-based-solution-for-enterprises-to-control-their-data/
I'm sure Frank is itching to move from this boring old cloud stuff and create a new project to tackle an entirely new space and challenge 8-)

So one of the goals of Nextcloud is to be super easy to install. Because of that it is a pure PHP application that is super easy to install. So we can't include a full IMAP/SMTP server. And to be honest there is also no point in reinventing the wheel. A lot of great open source mailservers exists. Just install one of them and Nextcloud can use it.

I deploy software on windows via chocolatey.org whenever possible.
The NextCloud client is listed there, but I see no official NextCloud names in the details.
https://chocolatey.org/packages/nextcloud-clientHas anyone from there reached out to you about this to ensure things like download links always work, etc?
-
I'd love to see an AetherStore / NextCloud integration. Gotta get AS onto Linux first, but once there is that, having the two work together could be really cool for the SMB market.

Never heard of chocolatey.org myself but our download links should actually stay valid.

A single appliance solution would be really great. I see the long term goal of this product competing directly against O365.

Email absolutely should not ever be integrated.

It's the main software repository system for Windows (think RPM or DEB repo, for Windows.) It used to be a small, private open source project. But Microsoft has started working with them and it is semi-official at this point. It's built on NuGet, which is an official Windows tool from MS themselves.

https://help.nextcloud.com/t/nextcloud-mail-server/157Integrated directly, perhaps not, but as a ride-along-side, it would be great.
If I'm using gmail for my email and want to store my files in NextCloud - what's the current solution for that? download the file local, save to NC, open in NC and use LO to edit/view the file? what a huge PITA.

Use the email client on NC, the integration is built in.
