BTW: Does anyone know a rough price for an SFP+ transceiver?

Now that's a good price. Never liked the Cisco "fees".

        Just played around with https://demo.ubnt.com

It feels a bit... odd. There's too much "magic" going on behind the scenes and I don't like the way they manage VLANs in the UniFi series - just compare this to this. Overall, it feels like someone is holding your hand and doesn't allow you to cross the street at all. Probably OK in most cases, but that's not what I want.

So I'll take a closer look into the Edge line.

BTW: Does anyone know a rough price for an SFP+ transceiver?

        Here is the UNMS https://unms-demo.ubnt.com/devices

Now that's a whole different story. Thanks for the link.

Mh, is the EdgeSwitch able to run a VPN tunnel on its own? I need to connect a "remote" office to my server room. The office is in the 3rd floor, my server room in the basement and I need to run through a "public" patch room (primary cabling junction for the building).

I doubt it has the ability to configure a VPN that seems like an edge device is needed for that.

It does not. That would be the router's job.

And we're back at the point where I could need an edge router with a 10G port 😛 But the remote office could just get a 1G link, they don't need 10G up there

Yeah, could have been. Probably the same software behind the scenes etc.
