Goodbye 3DTV

I didn't even bother with 3D TV's. Always thought it was a way for them to jack up the prices. When I buy movies, I mainly want the Blu-Ray disc and never ever concerned with the 3D disc.
However, I am currently waiting for the price of 4k players to come down so that I can get one of those and begin playing 4k movies in true 4k. But with the evolution of technology still increasing, I am starting to believe that discs in general will eventually become a thing of the past.
yeah - I'm annoyed that 4K movies are $30 a pop for either bluray or digital content. A movie is barely worth $15 for me, but $30, no way!

I only buy movies in disc format... than convert to what format I want it in.
Done that before, trying to persuade the wife to looking at either Plex or XBMC, but she's not too impressed with either one. She's not impressed with watching movies stored from a hard drive. She feels that it is still piracy, even though I tried to explain to her that we are not selling or giving away copies to the Internet and that it is still staying in our possession and that we have the right to backup the movie for archival purposes. Still not working.
that's the first I've ever heard of that train of thought.

The walmart $5-bin for 3-year old DVDs.

Does she feel that way about watching television or DVDs? If not, why not?

Yeah, 340 line DVD - no thanks.. I'll take my BluRays... and even then, not really, mostly Vudu for me.

Absolutely not. She has no problem buying a movie and watching it at home or just watching general TV. Shoot. We have VHS tapes of movies that they recorded 20-30 years go off of the TV (Yes, I do still have a VCR.) I try to bring that example up as to how is that better than ripping the DVD to data?

Again, until they hit $15 or less, not really interested.. and frankly, even then I'm not, as I mostly just want Vudu, and they don't offer the specials on new/current stuff. So I'm sometimes forced to buy the physical media in the store/online, then add the code to my account, and sell the disk (I don't rip it).

But you still own access to the movie while selling the disc to somebody else.

I buy HD movies at like $15 regularly.

Honestly I have no idea how the licensing works. I only keep the digital code, I destroy it after adding it to my account.

Yeah, I can get HD movies at the price all day long. But not 4K. I'm talking specifically 4K are normally $30 to start.

I don't even worry about buying 4k as I don't have the equipment to properly watch 4k. Blu-Ray will suffice for me for now.

4K Samsung TV, Receiver that supports it.. and Amazon TV and Roku's that both support it. Only thing I'm missing option wise is a 4K BluRay player.. and I had the option last week to buy an Xbox One for $160 that comes with it.

@scottalanmiller stop talking out your ass.
HD movies are not $15 until they have been out. Some of us wish to watch things before they are a year old.
Also, this is not even available in 4k.

Except for just...kids...why would you want to watch Trolls in 4k?
Something action (Transformers, Marvel, etc.), absolutely 4k is the way to go. Animated...eh, not so much.

I don't but it was the first one in the feed.
