Here's a crazy idea - have it shipped to the house owners name, not yours.
That's what I suggested before.
How does the shipping company even know who the home owner is? I don't really understand why proving home ownership is a requirement to get a package delivered.
In the US, you have to list the homeowner, their phone number and all kinds of things to even be allowed to ship.
This is for international shipping? Becuase I have set family members addresses in the US for things that don't ship to Mexico and have never been asked to list the homeowner.

It's the recipient you have to list. Otherwise you'd never be able to ship to a hotel, yet that's done quite often.

What shipper? No shipper in the US that I know of allows that.

You do? who are you shipping through? I never registered with the Post Office.
How do people who live in rental houses get mail without issue, or people who live in apt buildings?
My mom lived in a rental for 7 years with no postal issues.

The SHIPPERS, UPSP can't be used for anything important, obviously. Talking about things that I actually want to receive. UPS, FedEx, DHL.

When shipping through UPS, they don't ask for the home owner, they ask for the recipient name. They often ask for a phone number, but I rarely provide it, yet my packages arrive just fine.

When you rent through a normal renter, you become the "home owner." When you rent temporarily, you do not. This is nothing like an apartment building.

Sure, They all ask for a recipient and phone number, not definitely don't ask for a home owner name.

That field is the homeowner once it gets to Europe. If it doesn't match, they hold it until someone can prove they are the owner of the address.

Interesting - I guess I've been lucky and never shipped something to Europe where the home owner wasn't that name on the package.
How does that work for children of the home owner? Does family name only matter?

My head is boggling, so no paying inordinate amounts to get an overnight package from FedEx/UPS to a hotel in Europe for something I forgot in the states?

Probably. I know it was a huge deal when we were in Spain. They wouldn't even come to the house. We had to get a ride to a nearby city with locals with power of attorney for the Brits that owned the house to pick up the packages. It was insane. Took weeks.

Of course, because you deliver to the HOTEL and the HOTEL signs for it. Not going to pay $500 for a $50 router, though.
-
What could you possibly forget in the States that you couldn't replace more cheaply, though? We know that anything we forget we are replacing with something purchased in Europe. I can't think of any reasonable case where overnighting anything would be rational.

Just the first thought that popped into my head, didn't have to be rational
-
And if anything gets stopped in customers, that overnight might take weeks. So not much point. Who can afford to live in a hotel for weeks or months waiting on a package?
-
UPS doesn't even offer next day to Europe. Two day minimum.
-
@scottalanmiller you are assuming that a single experience you had in one country is going to apply to another country. It is not normal. you are trying to claim something as normal when no one else has had to deal with it. Including others in Europe.
Additionally, you were dealing with international shipping last time when you have already shown native purchasing options that would not have that problem.

Assuming that either of those two places in Italy are willing to ship.

Has anyone tried this in Europe where it worked? We know why it failed last time. If you have examples of it working to prove your normal, what are they? How recent?
