I'm not sure where the driver comes into this? Don't they just, you know drive?
It's not like your taking the package all the way from someplace in the US to Scott's door in Italy. You're taking it from the sender's place and bringing it to the processing center, right?
That's what I thought. No need to find a house. All the international stuff should be trivial process boilerplate as it is done every day. If a shipper has to "figure anything out" they can't be much of a shipper.
Oh, they all have everything all figured out. It just takes so much more time to do anything with any international shipment.
Quick example. The airplane that flies between Toledo, OH and Shanghai China only makes a round trip every 3 days. They have 2 flight crews, and could make the round trip in 34-36 hours. It just takes all those extra hours to get customs clearance for the thousands of shipments being sent across boarders on that airplane.
But is that extra work? Or just longer delivery times?
It's both. Extra work because you have to get the customs forms filled out for every shipment, and longer delivery times.
To process a shipment going to Canada would typically take 3-4 minutes, whereas anything going to the US would take 20-30 seconds to process.
The computers don't fill out the forms automatically?

Did you look at Ubiquiti's website for resellers?

The computers COULD fill out the forms automatically, yes, but they're legally required to be verified by a person before being sent to customs.

Remember, your dealing with the US government here, which means you have no logic allowed.

Not even one in Rome or Milan, let alone the southern half of the country, let alone the island

Could be worse, here is a full continent...

Assuming the home owner is a local, will they allow a package to be sent to them?
-
@scottalanmiller said in Where to buy Ubiquiti in Italy:
Pretty simple, need some minor UBNT gear in Italy. ER-X would do, USG might be better. And an entry level AP. No idea where to find them or if you can.
Tagging @Dominica @Francesco-Provino
As long as you are in a member country of the European Union, it's pretty simple to buy stuff from a vendor in another EU country, even tax-wise. So you are not limited to Italy, IMHO.
But it looks like your options are limited when you want to get one at a local store

They are not. They are in Rome.

It's shipping that we can't do. There are no stores locally and we've had things shipped to us in Spain before and it took months because we don't own the place where we live.

Spain is an exception
Took a Spanish vendor 6 weeks to send us an Android based ebook reader.

Is it? It's the receipt that is the problem. No one will deliver to a house you don't own. My name isn't on the property, so they won't deliver is what I found.

Is that a non USA thing? I get things delivered to my house with other peoples names on it from time to time.

We get that in the US too, but as I'm normally the home owner, it's not much of a problem.

What about getting delivered to a local shipping company for pickup? I pick up things from the FedEx place all the time.
Does that exist there?

The idea exists here, but I'm not sure a shipping office does I'll look for that, though.

Never heard that. What's written on the sign, the owner's name? Just order to SAM, C/O owner, street, zip, city etc.
