@scottalanmiller Ok interesting.
It is ONLY for authentication and sessions, not content. So makes way more sense. Totally terrible use case for MongoDB.
So MongoDB will still be used for content?
No, it never was.
-
@JaredBusch Oh. OK. What is it then?

Authentication.
-
@scottalanmiller What does it use for content?

Just the file system. No database.

It is by doing that (the same as Dokuwiki does) that it is able to use GIT as a backup mechanism and version control.

By far the best thing I like about wiki.js

You can do this with DokuWiki too, it just isn't automated as part of the install.

That’s a plus me.

Didn't have time to mess with anything last night because of family. Hopefully tonight. I'm excited to try Wiki.js and Bookstack

If I was turning up something for only IT, and had the authority to force people to use it, I would only use Wiki.js. I totally love the git based backup thing.
-
@JaredBusch Thanks for the recommendation! It is only for IT though I can't force others to use it. Will check it out tonight. Have heard many good things about it here and that means a lot.

By force to use, I mean that because it requires learning to use markdown instead of a WYSIWYG editor.
-
@JaredBusch Got it. We have web people and a couple dba's so markdown should not be an issue for them. I still use Latex from time to time so using markdown all the time instead looks much simpler and is probably a better tool for the things we do.

Yeah, thankfully we have that flexibility.
