Calling the Google phone a Huawei is like calling the iPhone a Foxconn. If you called an iPhone a Foxconn in the US, nobody would buy it. That's nothing but sales-dick shystery... I mean, marketing. "Huawei" has zero "cool" points in the US, so they re-brand it. So, while the Google phone is exactly, 100% a "Huawei" phone that has been sales-dickified. Um, I mean rebranded.
Careful the last time you used such phrase-ery you offended a sales .... guy.
If I was actually worried about offending sales.... staff.... I'd eat a bullet.

I speak my mind with blunt honesty.... vendors don't really like it... SW hates it, and modded me out of existence for it. And I refuse to apologize for any of it, because the vendor was in the wrong.

What do you call it when a guy from SanFran can't type well?
Hunt'n pecker.
-
You can buy these phones easily in the US.
Best Buy even has them in stock here in Orlando.
Oh and you can get them through Target as well.

Are Huawei on the Pentagon's security threat list along with Lenovo?
I've never heard of anything like that. What makes you ask? What prompted that?
Yeah. That was kind of in left field. Just because they are a Chinese company?
It's a reasonable question
http://www.zdnet.com/article/is-it-safe-for-americans-to-buy-a-huawei-built-nexus-phone/
http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/huawei-threat-to-the-us/
https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=huawei security concernsIt's actually funny.....Huawei makes the most secure wrapper of Android I have used so far. Out of the box you have to give EVERYTHING permission to run. Even system apps such as phone or messages. Even when you install an app like facebook and accept permissions to install, once installed you must give permission to your SD card so you can upload photos.
Maybe that is why the NSA doesn't like it lol. China really has no benefit spying on average everyday citizens. As stated in one of the articles they more interested in military espionage. Plus Huawei has manufactured several phones here including the Google phone, and some of their own branded stuff which dates back to at least 2012.

Huawei had some popularity a few years back but then faded out behind Samsung.
They have had decent phones for a while.
I think Huawei remains ahead of Samsung in the Central American markets. We see them absolutely everywhere down there.
sure, because of price. Samsung was trying to pull an Apple.

LOL you were long gone from S America when that started..

Still very stable. This phone is better in every way than any Samsung phone I've used except battery life. I got 1 solid day out of this phone, but I could get 2 out of my Galaxy phones. For half the price of a Galaxy phone and all the hardware, I am very happy with this phone.
-
Good to hear. If I should decide to leave APPLE, I may just look at getting one.
-
fun fact of the day: it's pronounced WAHwhey
