Iphone 7+

Any more thoughts on the iPhone 7 today?
I can trade in my 6 for a brand new 7. But the way the deal works is I have to keep the 7 for 30 months. I mean, I could trade it in, but they give you the $650 back over 30 months. So, if I trade it in in a year, I only recoup like $275 or less.
If you want to get into a lease/trade in program, the best thing is to get away from your carrier and do the Apple plan.

I don't really want to, per se. I'm fine waiting the two years.
I just know my 6 is 2 years old already. And after a few years the phones start to suck.
But I also don't want to be tied into a 2.5 year contract if something awesome comes out next year.
Options, options...

@Minion-Queen I saw you can add the headphone jack on this youtube video!

I am still really liking the upgrade. I haven't had a chance to check out the camera much yet but should be able to tonight. There really is a decent amount of speed increase between the 6+ and the 7+ so I am happy with that.

The Moto Z Force I just got uses the same connector... USB-C to Aux. It's the future and I can say that with confidence. Others are going to follow the trend with their new models. It sucks but tbh I prefer the wireless aspect anyway.

I don't remember the last time I actually connected a headset to my phone. I am almost always Bluetooth for everything.

I always bring plug in headphones when traveling - the 6 hour flight over the atlantic, yeah - bluetooth didn't live that long.

They let you bring headphones, the end that plugs in could be sharped to stab people.
What the heck is wrong with TSA... stupid just stupid I tell ya!

The lack of actual home button (it's a touch thing but you have to press it hard to get it to react) is weird.
iOS 10 on a 6s is weird too. Pressing the home button does not fully unlock. It feels to me that they over corrected for the people complaining that the pushed the home button to wake their phone and the Touch ID kicked in unlocking it and making them miss their notifications..
Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button > Touch to unlock or somesuch.
I'm trying to give it a fair go for a week or so just to make sure it is not me adjusting poorly.
I lasted half a day before I switched it back.

Why not wireless headphones?

I'm cheap. I want really good sound quality that I don't have to pay for. So, I have mediocre sound quality, but I don't have to pay for it.

Glad to hear they are working for you! Did you figure out if they are actually doing noise cancelling or if they are just really well insulated?

I forgot to take the extra ear tips with me, so I didn't have the perfect fit.
No - they are NOT active noise canceling. A good seal with in the ear headphones does do a pretty good job of blocking out the crap, but damn if a crying child still doesn't pierce through.
For someone who just wants a cheap wireless option, they are very usable.
Word of review - the USB port is a bit of a pain to deal with. The cover fit extremely tightly. If you have super short finger nails, you'll never get it open, you'll need the tip of a non blunted knife, or a jeweler's common screwdriver. Then when inserting the USB plug, it takes a lot of force to get it to fully seat. Make sure you have the alignment correct. I guess it's like this so you can charge it while they are in a bag or something and won't come dislodged for the connector.
I haven't used them for a phone call yet, and probably never will since I game them to my wife - who likes them better than her $80 pair of Bluetooth headphones comfort wise.

Good, that's those are the same issues I have with my pair. I've talked on them once or twice and it was not so great. Wouldn't recommend them for phone calls.
