I don't even know any of those Dell products
Me either. All I know is OpenText acquired Hummingbird and the Exceed product has suffered.
And that says a lot, it wasn't that great before!

I thought VMware had bought out EMC?

Sadly, I don't know of a way to access the full Gnome 3 without XDMCP. MobaXterm uses SSH forwarding, but it's really really slow.
X2Go has a timeline on it, but won't be done until next August/September.

LOL. VMware is tiny compared to EMC. EMC bought VMware long ago.

So now Dell owns VMWare too.

X2Go is a 10 minute install if you're spinning up a new system. I'd definitely recommend a Mate system vs Gnome 3.

Right but with our software, they only support the default which is Gnome 3. And at $70K per seat per year for some of it, we don't stray too far away from that.
Plus we have a very strict QA we have to meet with calculations. If they stray at all from the baseline there have to be justifications. It's much easier to stick with the default baseline that Red Hat puts out.

I use Mate at home for a few VMs with X2Go.

Okay, yeah. That's understandable. Set up Gnome 3 on one of your Home VMs and see how painful or not it is, lol.

Ha I've got a couple running here and I've tried different ways to get in. We can run apps with X2Go with the published apps list, but just no desktop. It's not a big deal, but some people like having the full desktop to work with.
