More information would be needed. Do you mean ESXi Free?

I think he's attempting to create a VM of Apples OS X on ESXi, and it's stuck at completing the installation.

Which if he is, he may be out of compliance with Apple. As you must use Apple Branded hardware to virtualize their OS. At least according to this.

Not that he isn't use an Apple branded system....

Yes, at this point we would just assume ESXi (or Fusion) on Apple hardware in that case.

Where did you get an Apple VM from? I'm guessing it's probably not legal. 😛

Are you trying to run it on VMWare workstation on a MAC? or on Windows?

I don't think that there can be a legit OSX machine. Not sure how licensing works for OSX images, but that seems like a high chance of being a counterfit image, and could easily be corrupt or malware or something. The issue is likely with the image.

Mac not MAC. MAC is an abbreviation. And running it on Windows is fine.

Once on VMware Workstation, it doesn't care what OS is under VMware Workstation. That is totally abstracted. This is almost definitely an issue with the image itself.

It definitely seems possible from articles on the Interwebs.

Though the OS source comes from Apple itself. So it should be OK.

Not speaking to the legality of it, of course.

Apple provides an IMAGE of the OS?

That might be the issue. Not the bay, but that it is just a random homemade image. My guess is that the image is bad. Without a way to verify it, I think that that is the most likely option.

Likely just an issue with the downloaded file, not persay with the image. Has he said he "re-downloaded the file"

One was a random torrent from a torrent site and the other is an image from a site that provides questionable downloads.

Highly unlikely it was the same image file.

So no, he did not likely re-download the same file.

So yes, it was likely a problem with the image.

I am curious why you would want to run OSX in a VM anyway?

What advantages does OSX give you over Windows or Linux Distros other than the obvious video or music editing which probably isn't ideal in a VM anyway?
